Epic Release Date and Pricing on Amazon Banner

Exactly. $250 when you can get MOST of the advantages without a slider in a thinner form factor for either $150 (Vibrant) or $50!!! (Captivate)
Hard Keyboard, flash, and front facing camera worth $200 more??
I guess...

nope... not in my opinion. sorry folks, I will say this, if sprint lowers the price to $199, even say in the holiday season Sprint will have a good holiday smartphone, but by then the hype will be on the next superphone to take it's place. I just hope they aren't going to jack up the off-contract price. I could see $499, but if it's any higher than that then i may be forced to go to the evo, and I don't want to do that cuz I love the EPIC.

Off contract price is 500. 250 after 150 discount and 100 MIR= 500

WTF? Why is this $250. thats a damned rip off. Costco was selling the Captivate for $99 (and Amazon too, IIRC).

Too bad Sprint doesn't work with Costco. Hopefully Best Buy won't jack up the price more than the $230 they already charge for the Vibrant/Captivate.

Wow 250 bucks, I was going to get 2 of these, one for me and one for my wife... but she may be getting a moment since she isn't a tekkie and just wants a keyboard...

I am so sick and tired of hearing this. This crap was used to justify the extra $10 for 4G, Sprints spotty coverage, poor customer service, etc. etc.

I am on Sprint because the Pre was by far the cheapest smartphone setup you could get, period. Gouging us on the next round of smartphones isn't cool. We're basically paying verizon prices at this point.

HAHA, funny, go check out what your plan would cost with a Droid2 or DroidX. I'll point your in the right direction:
Cell Phones, Cell Phone Plans, 3G Smartphones, the Best Cell Phone Service - Verizon Wireless

o well $250 it is either you want it or you dont. no reason why this should be priced the same as the EVO

I get 20% with Sprint. I don't know how much I would qualify for on Verzion, but I think I can get 20 or 25 on ATT, and at least 15 on VZW. It is hard to do a straight up comparison like this.

Edit: OK. So without any discounts, and having 3 4G phones on Sprint would cost $190/mo and on Verizon it would cost $230/mo with 2000 minutes. So Verizon is still more expensive, but not by too much. What saves us money on Sprint now is that one of the lines is a blackberry and doesn't need 4G. On the other hand, I don't think the $10 is worth it for any of the lines, and I wish I could just buy a $199 phone and use it on my current plan without Sprint pinching my pennies. Again, if the two were the same price, I owuld have bought the DROID a year ago on Verizon. I knew it was coming out, I knew how awesome the specs were, but I got the the Pre because Verizon would have just been too expensive.

I waited and waited. Didn't buy an EVO, didn't switch back to AT&T for an Captivate and what does Sprint give me? A $249 Epic?!?! A Vibrant is $99, a Captivate is $49. How can they justify $249 for this phone because of an extra camera and a keyboard? They think this pricing is going to bring in new customers when their competition is selling what is basically the same phone (processor, screen, OS) for $150 to $200 less?

Even with a 19% discount Verizon still ends up costing more than the Sprint regular price which I also get a discount on.

Where are you getting Captivate for 49?? or Vibrant for 99??

ATT and Tmobile are charging 200 for both phones.

If some other place is selling those phones for cheaper than ATT and Tmobile than what makes you think they wont do the same with the Epic???

If anything, places selling the other Galaxy S phones for cheaper means that they will most likely follow and do the same with the Epic.

amazon has Vibrant at 99, Captivate at 49. of course that's the new customer pricing...

Well if Amazon dropped the price on both the other Galaxy S phones for Tmo and ATT than they may do the same for the Epic.

Looks like they've taken down the page new page. Its back to the annoying Dolphin animation. Hopefully, they're taking it down to change the price!!!!
