Seems to be a weird thing.. when i upload a pic to fb, during the uploading process, my phone slows to a crawl. the pic is selected from the gallery, then share, then fb is selected. for the next 30 seconds or so, it creeps along, and my old curve did this better. would it have anything to do with the capped speeds we're experiencing or is this more of a android issue?

Thanks!

I am pretty sure this is related to the slow upload speeds everyone has been seeing... caped at 150 kbps.

No it has nothing to do with slow upload speeds.

OP: Yeah I have the same issue. I'm pretty sure it's a FB app bug since uploading attachments to gmail does not result in the OS slowing down. However I don't know if I've noticed that in beginning. I'll try to reinstall FB.

just did the same thing to me while I was trying to upload to dropbox, ended up rebooting it

Same problem when doing a backup with lookout.

Samsung really needs to work out these issues.

I experienced this lag slow upload when I used barcode scanner to send an image to my wife via e-mail.. Slooooooow

note to folks: the issue here is the entire phone slows down/freezes while the upload to FB is occuring. If you're the impatient type, you can easily finding yourself pulling the battery.

We're not talking about the rate of the upload.

But it only seems to happen on 3g.

People on xda are saying that the phone is throttling the uploads, so the actual 3g throttling is what slows down the cpu. Not sure if that is actually true though.

I made a past about this earlier for gmail while sending pictures or videos on 3g. I haven't done any pictures to facebook over 3g so I'm not sure if that happens for me.

lets see if the little update that's coming out helps. the only way i've been able to get around it to get my phone to do anything was to push the power button and force it to go back to the lock screen. anything else, the gallery slows to a crawl, freezes or what not. I just tested this on a 4g network and the pics didnt upload, however the phone didnt slow to a crawl.

so, just a little more info.

Hmmm ... I haven't really noticed this issue, but then after I start the upload I usually pop the phone into my holster. Also, I've probably done more uploads via WiFi than anything else. I'll have to look out for it.

Oh - one bit of advice. While the camera is capable of taking 5MP shots, you might want to bump down your shot resolution a bit if all you're doing is uploading to Facebook or Twitter.

Use pixelpipe. It can upload to facebook and many other sites.

I just uploaded 5 pictures, and my phone is still responsive.

Well it isn't just FB this is happening to. I just tried to send an email with a pic attached and the phone was totally unresponsive and then rebooted itself. Is this whatt my extra 10 bucks a month is going to? I should be getting paid for this online experience instead of paying for it.

all i know is uploading any type of pic on 3g will bog the phone down.
4g and wifi have worked fine, but 3g uploads, still capped at 150, phone slows to a crawl, and it's pissing me off.

it's actually embarrassing when i whip out my epic, and my gf has a 2nd generation iphone and her phone can upload 6 pics before my first pic is done.

so, is there anything or a timeline on this? it's frustrating when we're being forced to pay an extra 10 a month for 4g, when we cannot use it all the time and still get capped at 150 upload.

blah. :)

Why would an upload cap cause the phone to be sluggish

The phone is EXTREMELY sluggish and unresponsive when uploading data. This happens with Qik or when uploading photographs (to picasa, in my case). It's basically not usable. But there's no reason that an upload cap should cause the phone to be sluggish, unless the capping process is on the phone and purposely using CPU.

Whatever it is, it's a FAIL.

(Add to this the rotten GPS performance and a slew of other FAIL use cases (try to copy a URL from an email, for example) and you have to wonder if it's worth the $$).
