Essential PH1 IMEI

Maybe if you explained WHY you said the phone was incompatible people wouldn't be confused with you post. Obviously you don't know how to explain yourself better because I've had 0 issues with ATT.
Besides the issue with Stock Messages and Gboard not allowing v-cards to be sent, I've also had no issues.
I'm using Tapatalk for the first time. I had another thread explaining the issue. But when Google and At&T told me that I was unable to use the PH1 IMEI, it made sense to shed light on the situation, in case people call in at&t, swap their IMEI #, and all of a sudden their phone is on 2g...
I don't know the technical details. I relied on Google Tech Support and At& T Tech Support for the information...

Of course. It's an ongoing issue with AT&T not supporting new devices. That's why many here already knew what the problem was and how to fix it. That's exactly why I said what I said in my first reply. lol

Once they add the PH-1 to their database this will be a non-issue. Until then you have to have them provision your phone using a different IMEI.

But, that's different than them claiming your PH-1 IMEI is GSM only. That's both incorrect and nonsense. :)

Just go into an AT&T store or ask any family member or friend for the IMEI off their AT&T S7, S8, or the like and give that IMEI to AT&T. It will then provision your phone with LTE and even VoLTE. Don't even tell them you have an Essential Phone. I can manually update my IMEI because I have AT&T Premier, if you are on a personal plan, I think you have to call 611 and tell them.

Never had I ever went into any AT&T store or called them about my IMEI number. The only time it became relevant is when I had to change sim card size. And even then I never had issues, like with the LeEco and Asus Zenfone 2. I've always avoided giving them anything to screw up my service.

Perhaps they've gotten better about it recently. It seems relatively common that new phones not in AT&T's database don't get properly provisioned for advanced features without fudging the IMEI on the backend. I've read of WiFi Calling, VoLTE, SMS/MMS and other features being an issue. I'm sure not all new phones on all accounts have issues, but they're common enough to pop up in discussions like this.

Im I'm at&t, VoLTE and Hd calling working for me. Just took the sim out of my iPhone and put it into the essential. You can see it's still connected to LTE while on a phone call. Calls sound great too.

No WiFi calling though, even though the option appears in my settings.

I was working on Wifi calling today. No-go. I need an AT&T phone IMEI #

I used several unlocked phones on at&t last year, never once had an issue with IMEI number. I simply just swapped my sim from phone to phone to phone. also maybe see if someone in the store is smart enough to know the old apn seedings. had to do that on one of my unlocked phones and it fixed the issues.
