Rogers Galaxy S8 Ethernet option worked once, now doesn't

Any thoughts...I used a USB-C to ethernet adapter that works for my laptop on my phone...it showed a little ethernet jack icon on top left and then said it connected. I turned off mobile data and wifi, then I played online games for 15minutes. Removed the adapter, tried again later and it won't connect. Ethernet is now greyed out under Connections-->more connection settings. Rebooted phone, still no luck.
