EU travelling to USA: Best way to use mobile data

I'm from Europe and I'm travelling to USA next week. I need to be able to be online all the time and access work important sites through my country IP.

Is something like this possible? Can I buy some sort of prepaid SIM there with unlimited mobile data and install VPN or something to have different IP and surf normally like here?

Not unlimited data (we wish we could). You can use wifi, or you can use any prepaid SIM, but your data is going to be limited to around 5GB/month at normal speed. (After that they throttle you down to what makes dial-up seem fast, but it should be enough for email.) Just make sure that your phone has the right frequencies for the US - including the 4G frequency the carrier you choose (since the phone is GSM, the only choices are AT&T, TMobile or their mobile virtual network operators).

And is it possible to be on phone via VPN all the time to have other country's IP?
