Ever since last security update I have been unable to do certain things on my Samsung Galaxy j7

Ever since the update on August 1st I have been unable to disable built-in app or remove icons from home screen. If anyone can answer these questions for me I would be very appreciative. By the way I'm a techie novice and I don't understand Tech language so please put your answers in the simplest terms.
