Seems like more people than not are experiencing abnormal drain that shouldn't be happening to a 2015 smartphone. Looks like Samsung dropped the ball on this one. By the way the HTC M9 seems to be screwed right now as well with poor battery life possibly due to the 810 processor. I think ill pass on both "flagships" this go around and wait for Sony and LG offerings or maybe the M9+ will come to the states.

I kind of feel like it should of waited for the G4 myself.. i mean i loved the past 3 LG devices i bought starting with the G2.. great phones

Source for this claim?

Seems like it's just a few complainers on this forum who have had their phone for one day.

I'm sure it's probably just caused by something silly like people leaving automatic updates on, GPS, notifications, email retrieval constantly instead of every few hours, etc.

Not even close...it's WAY more than a few and if you go to XDA Developers, the number of people experiencing the battery drain is rampant and the frustrations are growing. It's not any of the things you said - the drain is a WiFi issue that is plaguing T-Mobile phones causing high Cell Standby and is now starting to show up on AT&T phones.

There's no setting, fix, cure, uninstall, etc. that you can try - I've been trying for 9 days now. It's a problem with the software and the drain is pretty significant, especially in Standby and is causing very decreased battery life for many.

Where are AT&T people reporting the same issue?

don't people know it takes a few days for the OS to settle and everything work as per normal.. and that u'll be using ur device more then average when it's new?

but i do see an issue if u are coming from a note 4 or device with steller battery life.

Stop being reasonable; this is a tech forum.

I use it in those few days the same way I do throughout.. A lot :D.

People in this forum have reported it dying overnight after being at 40% before bed. And this is the AT&T version. That is in standby. And if that's true, that's completely unacceptable.

Who? There was the "I had all I can stand guy" but I thought he was on TMobile? Again, not saying you're wrong, but I've been here pretty regularly and don't remember anybody saying they are having issues on AT&T. Instead of just saying "people", can you try to point me to a specific post or thread?

I'm actually seeing the exact opposite with AT&T posters commenting that they have no Cell Standby issue and are getting pretty good battery life.

All the complaints so far have been T-Mobile based, unless you can point me otherwise.

Man, I'm blanking on where I saw that. I do know that kyleresq (I think that's his handle) is showing 20-35% battery usage on standby time. That's not good. My G3 is showing 2% right now. I'm going to keep hunting, but I'm at work so it'll take a bit. Obviously there aren't a ton, but less people have them on AT&T. And standby percentage as high as he's showing, doesn't bode well.

I am on AT&T and have the cell standby issue. XDA folks indicate its wifi and I am testing that theory now.

I have a t-mobile S6 edge, leave wi-fi on, and have zero drain problems. It will drain maybe 4-5% over the course of a night if it's not plugged in. i wonder why only some have the issue. perhaps it has something to do with the router, or what band of wifi is being used.

So, are you people with this drain issue turning off Scanning Always Available and Smart Network on your Wifi Settings?, Also, there is an option on my onePlus One (Kit Kat) that as far as I remember it was on my S5 so it may be on S6 also, that says Avoid poor connections, does the S6 has it?, if so, can you try turning all the above settings off? Again, none of this are needed and together with VoLTE and Wifi calling are possibly causing the battery drain for some of you, that could explain why some have it and some don't it may easily e related to the combination of this settings.

I always turn all those and some more off, again, if I don't need them I always turn them off and I'm not crippling my device like some of you have mentioned, having a Smartphone don't mean that you have EVERYTHING on all the time, that's the beauty of the Toggles.

I'll know for sure on Friday when I finally get my Edge, but for now, you can do the tests to see if we can finally pinpoint the issue.

This is AT&T: I charged to full, turn wifi completely off. In the 1.5 hours since I am at about 6.5% per hour (much improved) and cell standby doesn't even show up. I'll wait a while longer and then turn wifi on, but leave all that background stuff off and see what happens then.
