Evleaks weighs in on the Pixel leaks...

I want that 5" Pixel bad. I can't get past that 2770 mAh battery. I hear a ton of people who claim to get 4 hours of screen time with the 5X, but I am on my second one, and this POS doesn't make it past a work day with 2 hours of screen time.

it's a shamed. That Pixel makes me moist.

On battery, remember it's only pushing a 1080p display at 5 inches. I'd expect similar battery life to the GS7 (slightly larger, higher-res AMOLED display with a slightly larger battery).

People's high disdain for bezels has me baffled.
Why do the masses want everything thinner and thinner all the time? Personal taste I suppose...

Slightly smaller screen, slightly larger battery, and hopefully more efficient chip on the Pixel. That suggests better battery life than the 5X, but only real-world use will tell the whole story.

1080p is the way to go, qHD just sucks up the battery life and RAM in moving pixels around. No wonder the fruit stand company has stuck to that formula!

Fully agree... It's a spec for spec warriors to worry and complain about and nothing more..

Not many people have a 4K TV so most are completely happy and content viewing 1080p on a 65" TV screen but OMG if it has to be done on a 5.5" screen.. LOLOL

For VR a 2k screen or better is optimal. Which seems to be a big push with google and daydream. If that 1080p screen cost the same price as a 4k screen then I'm sure plenty more people would be buying 4k right now. The pixel phones are priced at flagship it should have what flagships have. Just because the "I have a smartphone just to have a smartphone, but all I do is make a call so i should spend $650 when a dumb phone costing $200 would work just fine" crowd are ok paying top dollar just to have something just to have it, doesn't mean other will. To each their own I guess.

Or....... Having a 4K phone just for the sake of rattling off a spec that is meaningless on a 5" or 5.5" screen..

Agree, to each their own.. :)

I'm very excited about this phone. Not because I plan on buying it (not for $649 at least) but because I really like Google's products and services. I can't wait to see what they'll do differently to stand out from the crowd and what type of experience they have in mind for the user.

The spec race is getting old and the latest, fastest, sharpest, highest-definition tech doesn't translate to best experience. VR is cool, but not for everyone. Can 4K video even be streamed over a mobile data connection without chewing up a data plan? What I'm looking for is the best experience in a solid performing device day in and day out. If that experience is delivered on a 5" screen in 1080p, on whatever processor, with an efficient 2770 mAh battery, so be it.

For example, the Moto Z Play doesn't try to be something its not. Its a device fit for a user who doesn't need to game or use processor intensive apps. They can trust that their battery will last through the entire day, whether its light or heavy use.

People told me how great the 5X was after the May update. before or after, it's 2.5 hours of screen time and it's dead. It doesn't make it past a 8 hour work shift.
