Evo 3d not until July?

June/July is a very safe bet. Let's just leave it at that.

Anybody that paid attention to the thunderbolt release date will know that things can get crazy.

Nobody will have an accurate date this soon. It's just unheard of in the cell phone industry. Yes I'm sure Sprint has a target date but a lot can change between now and then.

After the Thunderbolt debacle, I don't think Sprint will be announcing a date before it is relatively set in stone. It's just too soon for corporate masters to share a real date with the underlings. Anyone at stores, Sprint/Shack/BB/other, are still in the dark. If they tell you otherwise, they're basing it off rumors at this point. We'll start seeing leaked emails and docs when it really goes out to the stores.

Yep, pre user here, now using hacked pre plus on Sprint. I'm seriously looking at the 3D over the Pre3.

The Pre3 better be announced when the 3D comes out or I'll be rockin 3D on launch day.

In one of the videos they show the Evo 3d with the rear cover off, there is just no room at all for the kickstand.

There is a vid floating around of a "case" for the evo that has the kickstand built in. But its not a cover, just a protective case made by HTC.

The last 3 years Sprint release their big phones in

June 2008 - Samsung Instinct
June 2009 - Palm Pre
June 2010 - HTC Evo
June 2011 - ???

Im pretty sure this phone will be release in June, and remember the Iphone 5 will be release in June, or first of August. Sprint must get this phone out b4 an apple launch.

iPhone might not be released this summer (prob wont til their fall event) but WHO CARES... Apple sux and steve jobs is a d-bag... EVO4LIFE... ;)

Yeah if the iPhone 5 doesn't come out until October, then Sprint has more time to cash in on the Evo 3d. Doesn't mean that they should drag ass and wait forever, instead, they should use the time to lure some iPhone users over to their side.

Sad to say I'm an original first day palm pre user and I can pretty much say with 100% certainty that WebOS will not be my next mobile OS. I've been disappointed for over a year and a half now and though WebOS had a ton of potential, the Pre hardware was total crap... as is the Pre 2 and I have no faith that the Pre 3 will be any better. They need some ridiculous hardware to compete and the ability to run Android apps (like the blackberry playbook). Was going to upgrade to the Evo months ago, but I'm holding out for the next big thing. I'll try to hold out for the Evo 3D, but its possible I may settle for the Nexus S

I'm in the same boat. Got my Pre July 09, 2nd one now. Don't know about the Pre 2, but the 3 isn't for me either. I've wanted an Evo for over 6 months, only held out because of all of HP/Palm's broken promises. I've given up on them now, just waiting on the next high end phone, deciding between the Evo 3d & Nexus S, depending on when they come out. If they ever get their act together I may go back, but by then it'll probably be too late & sucked into the robot masses. :)

I'm a launch Pre owners too and I tried to convince myself to get the Pre3, but can't do it, may be in a year or two we'll see if HP got their act together... But for now I'm waiting for Evo 3D!

Original Palm Pre release day user here. Man, this phone blows. Lol, I cannot begin to tell you how fast I will run to get an Evo as my next phone. Only problem is I am eligible to upgrade in 2 days. But, with the announcement of the Evo 3D I don't know if I should jump off the pre right now bc it's such a chore to use at this point or if I should suck it up and wait for the Evo 3D. I know what the right thing to do is but it's gonna be so hard. Now I'm reading people looking at the Nexus S. Of the three devices, Evo, Evo 3D, Nexus S which one should I get? What is the difference between an Evo (regular or 3D) and the Nexus S? Thanks.

Man, someone from HP should see this, all of these original Pre owners ready to leave Web OS and jump to Android.
I'm using my original launch day Pre with a chunk of plastic missing at the USB port with a crack on the screen.
I wanted a Web OS EVO style phone with 4G on Sprint but there is no news from Sprint if they're getting the Pre3, much less if it's going to be 4G.
So, looks like I'm going to hang in for the Evo 3D.

Man screw Palm. They lied to all of us original pre users about getting the latest version of os pushed to our phone. The said they would always push the latest and greatest to each device, then boom, sorry early adapters. Palm can go take a flying leap for all I care.

Not to mention their hardware is the biggest joke I've ever seen. For instance, I took my battery out to reset the phone bc everything was freezing on the device (which I guess now that I think about it the software is buggy as hell too) and when I put it back in it ended up somehow breaking the phone. Let's see what else, all of the phones oreo like hell, whenever you plug a 3.5mm headphone into the headphone jack the speakers front and back stop working. Sadly, someone had to come up with an app that fixed the software glitch. People had to develop patches to put basic functions on the phone. Whenever you're phone breaks, and yes it is imminent, you have to get a new one and upload your contacts via the cloud but wooops Palm only stores half of your contacts up there ..I mean the list is endless. And to say that Palm cares is the understatement of the year.

I CANNOT WAIT TO LEAVE PALM AND COME TO AN ANDROID DEVICE! At this point I kinda wish HP didn't buy out Palm and they just disappeared, but oh well.

As I type this, my phone just died. Flashed red bars on the screen and poof, dead. Wonderful. THANK YOU PALM!

If anyone has any hopes for the Pre 3 on Sprint....go watch the latest installment of the Engadget Show with Jon Rubinstein.

As far as which phone to go with, the Evo, Nexus S, or Evo 3d....that's a personal thing. If I were in your position I could not justify spending 200 bucks on an Evo since by now it is 2 generations behind the curve when compared to the Evo 3d. So that leaves the 3d and Nexus... The Nexus is a fast phone with no HTC Sense, the Vanilla Android experience that some people lust over. It is still a very fast phone, it's just not the newest generation of phone. If that's what you want, it's a no brainer, tough it out and get the Evo 3d. If you're happy with the slightly smaller screen and knowing that you don't have the latest and greatest, and are also a fan of the Vanilla Android experience, then the Nexus S has your name on it.

I used to be the biggest Pre fan. After the CES announcement I ate up every bit of news I could find, I got mine as early as possible, and then the disappointments began. The negative press started to flood in, the problems rearing their ugly head. I couldn't wait to ditch that fisher price phone! So kudos to you for living with that thing for 2 years...but...think before you do and make sure you're not impulse buying just to get rid of your Pre.

What is the difference between the vanilla android without htc sense and what the evo/evo 3d have? I've never had an android phone so things like touch sense and what not are foreign to me.

Just go on youtube and do a search for a review of the Nexus S.

is it pretty noticeable difference between the two? lol if I don't know what I'm looking for how will I know when I see it?

I too was a big Pre fan and picked up the Pre on launch. I have been luck that I haven't had any issues with my Pre. Palm/HP hasn't improved the hardware of the Pre3 enough for me to stay with it. If they put the dual core from the HP tablet in it, maybe. But I am going with the Evo3d.
