Evo 3D vs Evo LTE

Just got a 3D last week and what a beast,
Makes me wonder why I ever jumped on the Samsung Wagon with the epic and the nexus when the ROM support for the og evo and now 3D Is just so good......

Plus with Samsung you got signal to issues and gps problems.

Yeah the nexus is nice but the evo lte is better.

The htc devices feel better in build quality to me, but then again I love the galaxy s2 line allot.

Evo3D with MeanROM is hard to beat. I am looking forward to ICS and being sorely tempted by the GNex and EVOLTE, but it's hard to imagine a device performing better than my 3D is right now.

My upgrade is in September. I'm excited to see what kind of quad core beast comes out around then! The choice between the nexus and EVO is tough too

By september you'll probably have the Galaxy S III (or whatever it will be called) in the mix.

This is the question I have been pondering for so long.

So these are the questions I asked myself. (I live in one of the LTE cities that was announced.)

1. Will I get an ICS update?
2. Does my "qhd" screen still look sharper and better than most of the SGS2 variants?
3. Is my 32GB sdcard plus 4 different cloud storages enough?
4. Do I really need NFC right now?
5. Is Wimax still pretty good where I live?
6. Do I want to pay higher insurance every month, and a way higher premium when I need to use it?
7. Do I want to lose the safe feeling I get from knowing I have a spare Battery in my pocket?

These are my answers.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. No
5. Yes
6. No
7. No

These are my answers. Everyone will have to make up their own minds as in what's important to them.

So when our phone gets ICS what would be a sound reason to get the Evo LTE?

We've got a 1.2 dual core compared to the next gen 1.5 in the LTE. They've got a much better camera. Larger and higher quality screen. And LTE compatibility. Is that all though? Oh and Beats audio.
I'm just trying to decide if I need it. It is definitely a nice phone. I'm just wondering if it is enough to pull my from my iPhone as I've benched my 3D. Ill probably end up getting it either way. It will just be nice to have an easy justification LOL.

I'm leaning towards getting it. My upgrade is in June and what ever the phone I get needs to last twenty months. So, I'm going to wait a while and read reviews, etc.
Has Sprint confirmed that the EVO 3D is getting ICS? I know HTC has but I don't remember anything from Sprint. I could be wrong.
If the EVO 3D gets ICS, I will probably stick with it for a while longer because it's a good phone, just not supported well.

Doesn't matter. 95% of people that buy the phone won't have 4G LTE. Have you used Sprint's 3G lately? It's abysmal. As poor as Wimax is, I could never rely on just 3G alone for my needs. Not to mention these early phones may not be totally compatible with the next gen LTE network? under 900mhz? I may be wrong about that though. These reasons plus the fact that it's hideous (my opinion) leaves me to use what I hae until it breaks, or until a proper 4G phone and network are available.

I'm sick of not having 4g but I guess I'm lucky my sprint 3g is great in my area. As we speak im typing this and also have mobile hotspot on streaming Netflix from my tablet and never buffers at all. Smooth as silk. I still want some 4g love just because.

Yeah, Sprint's 3G is not great but pretty good in my area. I can stream videos, and when I'm in the car I can stream music and have navigation going at the same time. I have found that I can't stream 3D youtube videos. I'd love 4G, but never having had it before, I can't complain about 3G.

I live right in the middle of Boston and providence. I have 4g 20 mins north or South of me. So frustrating. All they had to do is slap a tower right in the middle and I would have been all set. Lol

I moved from a 4G city Chicago to a very poor performing 3G city Milwaukee and I can barely take it. It takes about 20 seconds to load the view on google maps.

I'm hoping (but will more than likely be let down) the new phone will help in better reception of 3G data in my area and Milwaukee will be on the LTE list soon.

If not, I'm switching to Verizon that already has LTE in Milwaukee.

I do wonder if the micro-USB port is in the same location as the EVO 3D as I want to keep the two $40 HTC charging docks and $40 HTC card mount that I bought!

Same location, but the dimensions are different so it won't fit in the dock.

OS: Sense 4.0 vs Sense 3.6 (after ICS upgrade). I don't what the differences are (and I'm keen to find out), but I'm just pointing out that we won't be running the same version of ICS as them.

Let me help you out with that, sense 4 is much more lighter then 3.6 4 has a better overall feel it's feels lighter smoother faster lag free and less like sense where sense feels like sense just a little lighter then older versions if it makes sense also with 4.0 it feels more stock with sense add ons where 3.6 feels like sense with stock adds ons. I used both on my 3d with 4.0.3

Does Sense 3.6 still have that stupid ass dock that all Sense phones have had from day one?

It has the new customizable dock that is in Sense 4.0.

I actually found a really good walkthrough of Sense 3.6 on Youtube. It's on the Vivid, but it's the official OTA update to ICS and Sense 3.6 so everything should be the same for the Evo 3D.

I was tempted to try the upgrade buyout with Sprint and get the LTE, but the more I think about it, the more sense it makes for me to stick with the 3D. The HD screen and whatnot sounds great, but this phone doesn't look like a huge leap forward to me. I'd rather hold out for a phone that has the S4 processor with an Adreno 300 series GPU myself.

Plus, now that the 3D has ICS and after installing this:
[MOD][2.4.4/3.5.5] YouTube APK with 720p HD playback (WiFi + 3G) - xda-developers
my 3D has new life!
