I had the GS3 and it is not a bad phone but I exchanged it for the Evo LTE because of the camera. I have the GS2 and loved the phone but I was very disappointed that with such great hardware on the GS3 the camera was not so good and i use the camera all the time on phone. There is a long lag for it to refocus and the clarity is less than the GS2. I currently have the HTC EVO 4G LTE and I find it much faster when changing from apps. I do miss the ability to change to GPS, WIFI, etc from the notification bar. Hope that answered your question.

I have seen posts and reviews saying the opposite and those matching what you say too. I imagine they are probably similar cameras with variations that appeal to various peoples' differing criteria.
On what authoritative basis do you make that statement? The fact that you "like" the S3 camera better? You make that pronouncement as if you are the be all end all camera judge.
Now if you had said "In my opinion..." or "for my particular needs...", your statement would have been completely valid, and one that I can respect.

They're both great phones, and from someone that owned both the 4G and the 3D, I needed something different, so hence the SGS3, and I couldn't be happier. But I can see why someone would like the LTE better as well. The great thing is, WE HAVE A CHOICE.

LOL, I'm not sensitive at all - just ask my wife. Sorry if I was a little harsh. I just expect that when people make an authoritative statement, it's backed with data or credentials that lend credence to that statement. Just a by-product of my education and my career. And the fact that I'm a crotchety opinionated old man. I think the S3 is a great phone; however, it's not for me. The display and the form factor are not my cup of tea, and I'm starting to see chatter about Samsung's radio weaknesses.
i took 200 pictures with both devices then uploaded all pictures to fb. I took low light, great lighting, indoor, outdoor, action, hdr, macro and portraits. i then compared camera speed and ui. speed and ui Evo won but all categories of the pictures s3 won (my opinion). i then had 20 people vote on fb to see their opinion and i didn't state which i thought was the clear winner. 19 people voted for the s3 and 1 person voted the Evo for action shots.
I'll upload some of these pictures for you all to see the true difference. camera quality is the most important thing to me on a cell phone.

I see. Thanks for the explanation. It's nice to have a good camera and the EVO is good enough for me. But for those that use the camera as a discriminator for their phone purchase that could be an important data point, along with all the other comparison reviews on the net.

Yes, I think that was my problem. I was tired of the Evo form factor and the S3 was just the ticket.
And the radio issues are real, which is why I traded my S3 in for the LTE, but even with a better radio, I lasted less than a day with the LTE and went back to the S3. I still hit dead spots, but most of the places I go has WiFi, and Sprint is hooking me up with an Airave at my home (dropped calls, which I never had before) so that should solve my home problem. To me it's worth a few dropped calls to have a replaceable battery and just something different.
