Evo not getting Gingerbread?

Im waiting for them to complain that Potbrownies wont be available ( the 2015 version 5.0 Android) for the Evo.

Seriously.. by the time Gingerbread is made public or mainstream the Evo would look like an HTC Hero or Droid Eris to us now.

And remember 8 months ago when they came out they were " top of the world"

Well the Hero and Eris launched the same time as the Droid, so they were probably never top of the world, although they were (and today still are) very very good phones. I'd take issue with the post that the EVO was obsolete the day you bought it, unless that's a reference to the issue all phones face in today's hyper-rapidly evolving environment.

Frankly, as good as Froyo's JIT is supposed to be, I'm more concerned about the WiMax I don't yet have being obsolete before the EVO lol.

I think they are only rumors, when a full spec and google with HTC come out and says that EVO is no good then i will believe until then it is only rumors.

By the specs that Google came out with EVO is up to par with the new OS.

UPDATE:

Google Nexus One few other handsets will still work with new OS, but entry level Android phone will have to continue using versions up to Froyo. The Android 3.0 Gingerbread will support high resolution screens and processing units that could be used in tablets.

Android 3.0 Gingerbread features:

Minimum 1GHZ processor and 512MB RAM.

Supports screens of large size, pixel depth and HD resolution.

Fixed user interface: Just like in Windows phone 7, Android 3.0 will not allow custom UI like HTC Sense, Motorola , Sony Ericsson TimeScape, etc.

Android 3.0 Gingerbread supported devices.

Google Nexus One, HTC Desire, HTC EVO 4G, Motorola Droid, Droid X, Samsung Galaxy S and few other devices currently supports the above written hardware specifications. We can also expect community hacks to port the OS on unsupported devices.

Note: These are unofficial features. We will soon update this page more details.

the evo was obsolete the day you purchased it.... froyo isnt even here and your complaining about gingerbread wtf????

For the record I was NOT complaining at all. I was just wondering if any others have heard this or it is just strictly a rumor.

Gingerbread requires a higher resolution than the EVO provides. So, I'd have to agree with these rumors.

Nexus One will be the first phone with Android 3.0.
Evo specs are equal to or better than the N1 in every category.
sooo........

Gingerbread doesn't require a higher resolution than the EVO. Gingerbread will just support higher resolutions than the EVO.

"There's said to be a new 1280 x 760 resolution available for devices larger than 4 inches, which would dovetail nicely with Verizon's desire to bring a bunch of Android tablets to market. "
