EVO or Epic?

I agree with everything most have posted here, some exceptions based on my personal expereince..

Prior to flashing Android on my Epic ( which is a very simple process, does NOT require root)
I Was not having any GPS issues, after flashing Froyo following al the resources and reading on active posts in a few Forums, I have a GPS fix within 5-10 meters. sometimes better.

My wifi works better, i can save apps to SD card,
really digging Froyo release of Touchwiz, it is more functional and I almost prefer it to the Launcher Pro.

The Epic is Fast, snappy and works like It should. I get a full day use on a single battery charge, sometimes i have to recharge in the late afternoon if I have been streaming a lot of media, ect. I do not use my phone for the web unless I do not have access to a PC.

The camera & Screen are far better than than EVO.

I use a invisishield on the screen and it responds fine.

i really have no complaints since Flashing froyo, prior to 2.2 the phone still performed as it should. I can't see myself needing to upgrade to a different phone anytime soon.

regardless of the whole "samsung not updating 2.1" the files are availabel and can be manually installed so this isn't an issue for me & so long as I have access to those files I will always opt to Flash locally rather than do OTA updates.

The Epic truly Rocks.

Well I use evo and epic but the gps on the epic is just unreliable ****. Yes the screen is better on the epic and the camera makes amazing pictures when u look at them on the epic screen but on your laptop compared to the evos pictures epics look weak and also only a 0.3 front facing camera vs the evos 1.3 makes a difference. And since the latest update on the evo u have swype as well. The lack of not hook up the phone to tv like u can with the evo kills it kinda too. And the evo is snappy every single time where I often feel just using the epic normal seems slow. Scrolling to menu's seems lacking a lot evo seems snappy. So for me it is just screen that is. Of course u can put a froyo rom on to the epic that makes things better but the epic just crashes so often it is frustating. It was so bad I went back to the palm pre I couldn't take the epic anymore. How back on the evo and it is just a joy.

Its the same memory card as the evo correct??

The 16GB sd card is what Epic is shipped with, you can get a higher capacity card for the EVO they will work in either phone, I am not sure what the max capacity 16GB or 32Gb the phones will except, But the 2gb vs 16gb is nothing more than replacing the 2gb card with a 16gb.

easy upgrade..

And once again with Froyo DK28 flashed on the Epic ( get a GPS fix prior to flashing) and you will not have any problems..

Easy

+1 on the flash indoors creating more noise in the photos. Otherwise the Epic's camera functions very nice and videos in 720 HD, what more could you ask for? The quality is very nice.

Stock leaked DK28 works nice, but it does have some problems. Battery life isn't all that great and GPS is still random. Custom ROMs, battery life has improved a lot and GPS problems are still occurring but not as bad.

Bottom line GPS is random.. Works fine for others, and some can't get a fix no matter what they do.

I'm really debating getting the evo with trade in and upgrade if nothing is announced from htc anytime soon.

If 2.2 comes then my opinion may be different.

If the old evo id still take the epic. The shift though is my new favorite.

I love the epic and really have no issues with it. I came from a much less powerful phone which may make the epic seem even more to me.

But I can say I like it better than my friends evo. The epics screen blows away anything else I've seen. And My friend also likes my epic better.

This phone is going to last me 3+ years.

If you upgrade frequently, then consider the EPIC, but if you want a phone for close to 2 years, then get the EVO. Over time more apps require the latest OS, which will make your phone that much more obsolete. Samsung phones have a tendency of being 1 - 2 versions behind the competition when it comes to Android.
