when you press up for the update it should take a second, then have a summary of what was flashed and then say reboot vol up - yes, vol down - no.

oh sorry i meant that it didnt restart AFTER the update finished- i did the update and it said ok and all that and asked if i wanted to reboot-

after it asks to reboot i click volume up for yes and it just turns off and stays off- when i manually start into bootloader it hangs after i try to enter RECOVERY

crap i have it at home but I won't be home for another 2 hours. :/

edit: well hey you know what, now that the bootloader is there, you can run the 3.7 ruu exe.

please send it me whenever u can i will be googling and googling and googling and trying everything i can all night and into tomorrow before i give up.. do u think that file could help?im not sure why the other didnt flash recovery if it said successsful

It probably was succesful but for some reason it's like the partitions in your phone aren't getting updated (like there's no access) - I'm thinking at this point it might need to be a RUU, so maybe now that the bootloader is there try again with the 3.7 exe bootloader - you can do this while you're looking for the 3.7 pc36img.zip.

anyone following along know if you can just rename a recovery zip to pc36img.zip and get it going on the sdcard - i mean you can just try it at this point.. :/

ok . i think i understand what u mean- for some reason the ruu u gave me doesnt want to install- it hangs at "verifying information on your android device" and then to a USB ERROR- which is strange because the other 2 ruu i have will actually go past that to the flash process

that is strange, try it from fastboot and the bootloader - sorry for the delay i had to get home from work.

no luck with that same results for both those- i have successfully completed 2 different ruu's so far but not the one you provided

i just tried to do it on a 32 bit XP machine( i was on my 64bit windows 7 laptop before) and it seemed to work it got through most of flash but then gave PU failed IMAGE ERROR - now the worst part is the phone wont even power on at all :(

Did you check the md5 on that sucker?

You can grab an md5 checker, they're free just do a quick google it's a small program, usually you will enter the md5 from the text file in the previous post and then browse to the file and it will tell you if it matched.

Now for the phone not turning on, could it be a dead battery?

well its not the battery i tried 3 different ones- i think this phone just took its swann dive off the cliff- lol sucks..

man that sucks, i was doing some reading about this problem and the only thing i can come up with is that it's a bad block somewhere, that's why the PC36IMG.zips and RUUs almost worked but couldn't finish writing all the partition information.

I know that for a while there was a "mix up" with the unrevoked-forever s-off for Evo's with the 2.02 hboot, but who knows how it happened - that's just a guess.

The bright side, you can just take it to a Sprint store and say my phone won't turn on, they're all still under their first year manufacturer warranty and they should hopefully replace it for you on the spot.

Just by chance, do you get any USB sounds when you plug the thing in to your PC?
