EVO to PC video chat - Yahoo - Get it now!!

So are we back to not having any app that supports PC to phone video?
(without doing any tricks or jumping through hoops, I mean) LOL

When u hit messenger n it ask u to install hitting the home page is not difficult at all

When I do that, it brings me to the home screen.

So I open up messenger, & it asks me to install again, & I start that cycle all over again....

So I never get to use it....

I haven't tried this method yet, but I got the impression that after going to the home page, you hold the home key to bring up recent apps to go back to messenger instead of restarting it from the app drawer. Did you try that?

yup -that's exactly what I do- long press home and hit messenger- and it runs just fine (if I start it from "gestures", I can go back to gestures and hit it again, and it'll also work fine also)
going to it through the app drawer again will give you the update message-so don't do that...

I was just using it, & it does work. You just have to do the extra steps to open it.
I was ticked off when the update first came out & stopped it from working properly.....but all is good now....

Official Beta Version out in market-
I did the installation of the video add-on first, and messenger started, but it wouldn't connect on video-even though I had a button to click on-
Then I uninstalled the official video add-on that I had just installed (never bothered uninstalling the previous unofficial version- didn't seem to be necessary), updated Messenger to 1.2 (it was in the /market as "update"- but didn't show up with a notification to update it)- then re-installed the video add-on - and it works-
So- my suggestion is to update messenger first to 1.2, then install the new video add-on on top of it-
seems obvious, just don't want anyone to skip a step like I did- specially since the update notification isn't showing up for messenger (I guess I originally downloaded that version of messenger from xda thread and not from the market)...

Does anyone know if the video chat feature works from evo to mac? I figured it would, but saw someone post saying it doesn't work with mac's. Anyway tried it yet?

Works ok, was pixel-ated even on our home WiFi but worked, had to download a video client after I tried to connect the first time. Until Google gets on the ball this will work for now to chat to the PC.

this may be a weird question - but not all of my contacts show up (even as off-line.) If I log into Messenger on a PC - they are all there. but only one shows on my Evo.

This is strange. I downloaded the Messenger App and then the Video plug in. When I start Yahoo Messenger I do not see a button or anything to press to start a video chat.

What am I supposed to be looking for?

Help for a newbie?

Hey guys, just stumbled on this thread after searching high and low for ways to video chat to PC.

Am new to EVO and very bad with technology so I had a few questions.
Could anyone guide me step by step with how to do this? So far all I have done is downloaded Astro File Manager.

Should I download the old leaked beta version? The new official release version? Which is better? And how would I do either of those things?

THANK YOU!

Get the official one works really great and the leaked version is a bit messed up due to the last update... and the official one is in the market..

got the official one, had downloaded the leaked one and it said it was out of date, so it forwarded me to android market for the new one.

works GREAT.

messenger in general is a HUGE battery hog, so just be prepared.. x2 if your video chatting with it..

if you got a webcam at home, use yahoo for your video calls, the quality is amazing.....
