Go to your download app and hit other downloads and it should be there. Highlight it and hit cancel. I've attached a picture of what the screen looks like. Hope this helps!
Problem solved, Gslaxy S2, got to settings, applications, manage applications, click on all next to downloads, then scroll down to download manager, and force stop, and clear cache.
I have tried to go to App info and force stop the application and it will go away for a little bit then it just pops right back up. It is very suspicious.
It is a Facebook download of a new version and mine had been doing it all long until I got somewhere the internet is strong enough. It is actually bypassing the google play store is what it is doing.
Here is how to get rid of it....After trying everything this is the only thing that worked. Turn your Wi-Fi on....The build will finish downloading and it will go away. Easy enough. lol.
I installed this and then checked the date on my Facebook app and it still was dated Feb 23rd. So I'm thinking this is some kind of malware. No other info though. It just felt very wrong. So I restored my phone from a recent backup (I run CM 10.1 nightlies) and it tried to download again once I was back up and running. This time I stopped the download per the instructions in this thread and it seems to be gone.
Can anyone confirm that this is really from Facebook and not malware?
Hi,
I encountered same problem. In my case, I use Japanese vendor's Android phone. I went to "Settings" -> "Storage" -> "Downloads" then I could find the process "Facebook (build 140579)" on the list of many processes on going. I could remove it in the menu.
