Facebook contacts not syncing

Hello all, got my 6P yesterday and I'm absolutely loving it! However, for some reason I am unable to sync my Facebook contacts into my contacts list. The reason I want to do this is because I use UberSync to sync the pics, then I can merge Google and Facebook contacts in order to use the Facebook photo as my contact photo.

Thus far, I have been unable to get my contacts to sync from Facebook so that I may begin the process. When I go down my contacts list, there are no Facebook contacts. Incidentally, there are many, many contacts without a phone number showing that I would like to clean up, but apparently that's not possible.

Is there anyone who can give me some guidance on how to go about fixing this? Thanks in advance!

I don't think Android has been able to sync facebook contacts for years. There used to be an app called haxsync that did it but the developer was hired by someone and no longer does that. The only way I can think of that might do it is with the Facebook app.

This is a very, very common question with new nexus owners, and the simple answer is stock android does not support facebook syncing natively because of some qualms google and facebook had in the days of Ice cream sandwich (Android Version 4.0). Any facebook syncing ability you get on other, OEM branded phones was added by that OEM.

As far as i know, Haxsync is the only way to do it. I have been out of the nexus loop for a little while though, so maybe someone else can chime in with a more recent fix if there is one? I would be curious to know as well.

Sync.me. It won't sync all of your FB profile pics but it does most of them. Unfortunately FB locked down access that UberSync used. Sync.me searches for matches based on contact list and syncs. It is not based off of your FB account.

This is something that has just started with me...Note 4 on Verizon. Had to do a factory reset because the microphone for text-to-speech stopped working and the techs at Verizon couldn't get it to work. They told me they would get me a new phone, but I had to reset my old one first to make sure it wasn't just a glitch in the OS. So I spent considerable time and effort getting things straightened up (microphone started working, along with some Amazon apps which weren't installing, as well as printing from the phone).

Anyhow, the biggest glitch is that FB contacts aren't syncing when they used to. Was hoping to find some answers but it seems like that ain't gonna happen.

Facebook stopped allowing apps that synced contacts and their pictures. UberSync basically doesn't work anymore. It sucks because I used to use it all the time...but it stopped working some time ago.

I used to use haxsync and it was fantastic. Now FB is on lock down so if it doesn't do it natively I hope we have some other option. I'll try sync.me tomorrow.

Well see that's what I don't understand from what people are saying in here and what I saw on my phone: Up until this past Friday, my phone synced with Facebook contacts and now it doesn't. Many are saying that it hasn't synced in over a year, going by posting date. What the heck gives?

Facebook stopped giving other apps access to contact photos. I used to use HaxSync and now it's broken. Sucks so much.

Are you sure it was actively syncing current contact photos? It's likely that the photos were the photos from the last time it successfully synced quite a while ago.

I'm positive. A couple of friends were recently married and a few more had changed their profile pics often. These changes were reflected on my phone.

Now I do remember when Facebook and Outlook stopped syncing months ago, but the phone always did.

All very strange...

I was told by a VZW Rep that it's the new Facebook update, reverted to stock, now they sync no issue. Note 4 Edge.

As others have mentioned, I use sync.me, and it works great. I just ran a manual sync seconds ago and several photos were updated with Halloween pictures.

The way I understand it is that it only adds photos of people you already have in your contacts. So if you have John Smith in your contacts with his number, it will find his photo in your Facebook friends list. But, if Facebook is your only connection with John Smith, it won't pull his profile and create a contact for you.

I just returned from the Verizon store and told them what was going on. It took a little while, but they uninstalled the Facebook app and it reverted to an earlier version (16.0.0.11.15), and right away, all my contacts from Facebook are there.

I get contacts from two sources: Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and Facebook. Some are in both and when I link them together, the photo from EAS is what is used.

BTW, the Facebook app was uninstalled from the Google PlayStore.

I'll second the use of Sync.ME (https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...etails?id=com.syncme.syncmeapp&token=CtYj4Zey). It does a lot more that just sync Facebook contact photos, also syncs Google+ account photos, Caller ID, etc and it works perfectly.

I have to update my earlier post:

So while I uninstalled the current version of FB from my Note 4 and used a much older version (v16.x), things worked just fine. Now I am updated to the current version of FB and while contact profile pics are still being updated, new contacts aren't added.
