facebook messenger notification

hey guys, anyone getting a notification (vibrate/ringer) after opening a facebook chat? my s9 has been doing it ever since this morning. at least i think thats when it started, i didn't use messenger yesterday. the only thing that changed with the phone was the at&t update and messenger app update. tried restarting the phone, force stopping messenger and it's still there. went through the notification settings and i can't see anything that changed

YES! I have this same problem and it's been driving me insane. Have you found a fix? I have a Note 9 with the same issue. Every time I open a chat on messenger, whether there is a new message or not, I get a vibration. It's very annoying. Sometimes I even get the vibration after I shut the screen or back out to the home screen. It makes me think I got a new message, but there's nothing. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but the issue persists. I notice that when I leave messenger and go back to the homescreen, I see a very brief "1" notification icon on the Messenger icon on my homescreen that quickly disappears. It seems that the app has a bug and it think thinks there's a new notification briefly.
