Facebook Notification Sound

I wonder if anyone can help with a minor issue I have. I recently updated the Facebook app on my Pixel, and it automatically changed the notification sound to 'Facebook Pop'. It's actually a new, but hardly noticeable sound that showed up on my phone. I noticed it when I was setting a new sound for a contact. Now I can't change the notification sound for Facebook back to what it was. Any thoughts on what I can do to change it back? Thanks in advance!

If you go to the app's settings are you not seeing the Notification options? (Menu button, scroll down to App Settings, Notifications, Ringtone)

It is gone now. The Facebook update removed it. No way of changing the notification sound.

That's odd. Have you tried uninstalling the app and re-installing it? I have the latest update available and it is still showing on mine. I'm on the beta, though.

Tried all of that. That's how I originally changed to the sound I wanted in the first place. Now there's a 'Notifications Settings' tab below 'App Settings' tab, and there isn't an option to change ringtone or sound.

what about the slider to turn them on or off? does that prompt an extra menu or something? Or maybe turning them off and back on brings the menu back?

I'm running the latest (as far as I know) and mine has the Notification menu (with the ability to change the sound) right between the word "General" and the words "Sounds in the App".
Under About it says I'm running Version 123.0.0.18.71

125.0.0.5.80 here (beta program) and it's still there. For those of you who are seeing the option, are you on a Google Pixel? I'm on an S8 so I don't know if maybe this is a device-specific 'bug'?

Can you try switching to the beta program (you can always go back to the main release) and see if it shows?

How does I switch to the beta program? There was a new update for Facebook the other day, so I updated the app hoping it would fix the notification sound issue. Now I don't even get notifications. At all. I'll try something else, I guess...

Here's how to become a Beta Tester. I did notice, though, that on the last update, my ringtone was reverted to the Facebook Pop, BUT I could still change it afterwards.

I just found this thread. It's the only issue I've been able to locate that's similar to my own Facebook app notification sound situation. I realize this isn't the Samsung section and that my issue isn't identical to the OP's. But I'm hoping it's close enough to include here and that it may elicit some thoughts and insight.

My phone is an S7 edge. It recently arrived back from the Samsung repair center for a warranty replacement of a failed display. When I shipped it out, its OS version was Android 6.01. Naturally, when it returned it had been updated to Android 7.0.

At some recent point, my Facebook app auto updated to v132.0.0.20.85 and I've noticed that I'm no longer able to get my choice for a ringtone to *stick* as FB's audible notification event sound. The Notifications > Ringtone menu items are indeed there and I can select any ringtone from the list that appears. But my selection will only last until the phone is restarted or until the Facebook app is otherwise stopped and restarted. Once that's done, the FB app always reverts back to the 'default notification sound' for some reason. It never used to do this and I'm unsure whether it's a bug in FB's recent update or a firmware or hardware related problem.

Any thoughts will be appreciated. If necessary, please move this reply to its own thread in the Samsung section. Or I can always start a new thread there as well.

Never mind. It's apparently a bug in the latest public release of the Facebook app (v132.0.0.20.85). I've installed the current beta verson (v133.0.0.16.83) and the problem is gone. I'm sure it wasn't a borked download/installation of the app because the first thing I tried was a re-install after clearing the app's cache and data, along with a cache partition wipe. The problem immediately returned. So it seems that FB coders messed up on the current public version and that most people simply aren't very concerned as to whether they can change notification sounds or not. The issue is closed for me
