Facebook status reply notifications and widgets?

I saw a few posts on this but none that really answered my question so here goes. I downloaded Facebook in the market today but it doesnt give notification when someone replies to my status changes. Is this just the way it is or can I make it happen somehow? Also where can I find widgets? Like I was looking for a Weather Channel and CNN one and cant find them. Thanks.

Edit to add: I also saw a Facebook widget but I cant figure out how to make it. Any info? Thanks.

the android facebook widget will give you notifications of messages, but not updates to your status. i have the status notifications going to my email that is pushed using gmail for now and it seems to work pretty good.

to use the facebook widget, go to a blank screen on your droid x, hold and press the screen, and a pop screen will give you the option of choosing different things. click on widgets, then on facebook and viola! your facebook widget will show up. now just make room on any screen and drag the widget by holding it down and sliding it around, or just make room on a screen and repeat the above process. lots of the programs you download will have widgets available and you would get the to work the exact same way. good luck.

You'll find Weather Channel and cnn widgets in the Android Market.

Once you've downloaded/installed the CNN and Weather Channel applications, then find a blank spot on one of your home pages, long press the empty space, then choose "Android Widgets." The widgets for CNN and Weather Channel should be right there in the menu.

I use TweetDeck. It gives updates in your status bar of new posts, comments on status updates, etc. I have started using it exclusively and have not looked back at the stock app once. I highly recommend it, at least give it a shot. You do have to set up a Twitter account, but I don't use it so I don't get any Twitter updates or anything, and have it set to not send stuff to twitter when I update my status.
