Facebook Syncing

My Rezound is currently not showing linked facebook profile photos when someone messages, calls, etc. I find this extremely annoying. The odd thing is my that my contacts are linked with their facebooks, just not the pictures. I have tried resyncing via facebook and general settings (sometimes it says sync is down at this time) and also relinking the contacts (when I do this, the desired contact doesn't appear in the search). Also I tried viewing the profiles of random contacts, will still no results. I installed the new update thinking it would help; it did not. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I'm trying to avoid calling tech support as much as possible...

You can try to clear data on facebook. Is this new since the update? Also are you stock/rooted/ROM'd?

I too am experiencing the same problem and it has been like this before the update and is stock.

Me too. When I first set up the phone, FB photos were linked to my contacts, but they disappeared a few weeks ago and can't figure out how to get them back.

Have been playing around with this and not sure exactly which of the following steps was key, but eventually got pictures back.
1. Under Manage Applications - clear data for Facebook and Facebook for HTC Sense
2. In Facebook app - click the Menu button (3 line icon in upper left hand corner). Scroll down to Account > Logout. 3. Close FB, reopen and log back in. You will be prompted to select your Sync options - None, all or only those in contacts - which is what I chose. Hit the Sync button.
4. I read this on another board, so went ahead and did this too. In FB app, go to Menu > Friends and wait for all of the pictures to load.
5. Open People app on phone. I was prompted to sync FB contacts. This will initially give you double contacts, just hit the Pull Down menu besides People and select Phone contacts only.
Took several minutes, but pictures started coming back for most contacts. Had to manually link a few because their names weren't listed exactly the same, but seem to be back in business.

Thanks Goose8! Used your suggestions #2 and #4. Because not all the FB pics were showing in my contacts I did one additional step. I went into the phone settings-->accounts & sync and sync'd FB. Now all my contact pics are showing up again

Glad I could help. That was driving me batty too, but had been focusing on an Outlook sync option and finally had a chance to look at the FB issue. Have been soaking up all the hints here since I was a long time BB user. Nice to be able to finally pay a little back!

I get this problem too... even created a thread about it but didn't get much help :-/

The other day I went to the mall and stopped by the Verizon kiosk and the sales guy told me to stay logged out of the mobile version of FB in the browser because that will cause ur phone to try to sync with both. I didn't have this issue with my Evo so I don't know how that would cause a problem but I tried that and it worked for the weekend, now this morning my fb contacts are unsynced again :-\

I leave my fb mobile on all the time so that probably isn't what's causing the problem. Just curious, did you try the suggestions above? So far since a couple of days ago when I had tried Goose8's suggestion and what I did as well all my pics are still showing.

I fixed this problem also by loging out of mobile facebook, this was on stock. I have sinve rooted and running custom roms. I finally just put photos on all my contavts the hard way. I seem to only have facebook to put contact pics on my phone, so im not sure why I even bother with it anymore.

I've tried different variations before,except for going to my fb friends and waiting for all their pics to load, I tried it this time around. I will have to wait a few days to see if it's an actual solution because any of them will work for a few days then everything unsyncs all over again. I'm trying very hard to avoid a factory reset. I shouldn't have to do that .

Yeah a factory reset can be a pain, especially when you have to download and redo everything all over again. For me I had to do a factory reset along w/ the other person's suggestion for it to finally work. Hopefully you will be able to resolve it w/o the reset.

So far so good for me the pictures are still showing.

I recently flashed to Eclipse and had this problem.
Followed the steps suggesting to clear the Facebook data, logged out, and re-synced.
It took a few minutes for all of the pictures to load but they finally did.

The one that managed to sync on their own are still good but just about everytime there's a good 20-30% of contacts that I have to sync manually and it's pain in the ass. When they un-sync, they ALL un-sync.. and when they sync, half of them sync -_-

Has the OTA changed Facebook contact syncing? For some reason in the dialer only (NOT people) my phone now shows all hundred plus FB contacts instead of associating only with those already in my contacts (first thing it asks when you initially log in to the FB app).

I tried everything suggested previously as far as removing it from accounts and sync, clearing data and logging out. I tried what seemed like hundreds of combinations of those things and finally decided on a factory reset. Still, the only way to eliminate tons of unwanted contacts from my dialer is to choose "don't sync" in the Facebook settings. I want to keep the contact photos!! Any advice?

Used steps 1-5 all in a row and it fixed it! Thank you, just switched from Sprint and got my phone tonight and it was bothering me! lol.
