Facebook videos keep stopping/pausing

[Android Central Question]

Facebook videos keep either playing and flashing up with the thumbnail for the video or the video pauses every second the video is playing so I have to press play again it's only been happening for last couple days...

I have already cleared cache/data and didn't help at all

Help please

P.s I have the galaxy note 8

Been same on LG V30 after few updates ago (FB app updates) until today after updating Facebook to very latest. Will update post if happens again after update but so far nada as "teal neat" posted as well.

My videos wouldn't play on Instagram but since Facebook started playing up about 2 weeks ago my Instagram videos now work but my Facebook ones won't... My power saving mode isn't on although I tried a suggestion on here about watching them in full screen which works but its an inconvience. Hopefully this issue is fixed soon

Found the solution, change your battery mode to High Performance Mode.

Having the same issue. Very annoying. Have reinstalled Facebook, rebooted, tried High Performance mode, etc, but nothing has worked so far. Samsung S8+

OK... Hi guys Im new so Hi...

I dont know if this is gonna fix your phone but at least its working for me... T

I downloaded Orbot and change the setting in the Facebook app... turn on the VPN option as well.



BTW... I also have a Video Codec VLC video player... so I dont know try it and let me know. HAND (have a nice day)

You can also download a Third Party Client for Facebook... Check Frost or Phoenix... even metal... but the videos arent going to start like in the original app but they are not gonna stop or anything.

I have the Galaxy Note 8 as well and it's doing the same thing!!! Omg. It's really getting annoying!!! I try and play a video on FB, 2 seconds in, it stops then I have to replay it then 2 seconds later!!! It's pauses again!! What is going on???!!!! HELP!

Same here, S8+ Started a week ago. Only with facebook videos, no problem with other streaming (Netflix, HBO GO, Youtube...)

I disable power saving on my galaxy S8 and that fixes the problem on my Facebook

TURN ON DATA SAVER ON FB. Worked for my s8+ and now I don't have the urge to throw my phone when fb videos keep pausing.

I was having the same issues with videos pausing every 2 seconds on Facebook while on my Note 8. I fixed the problem by turning the video enhancement off. I went into settings>display>scrolled to the bottom and selected video enhancer listed under the "looking for something else" section.

Same issue here. I have a Moto Z Force. My FB app says it was last updated on 11/1/17, version 148.0.0.51.62. (but it seems the problem has been happening way before the 1st)

I turned on Data Saver in my FB app, but it didn't make a difference.
I tried turning on Battery Saver, no difference. (My phone doesn't have "Power Saving")
It also happens whether I'm on WiFi or mobile data.

What works, for now, is turning my phone to landscape position while watching a video on FB. (YouTube vids work fine)

Go to seetings -> display and remove the adaptive display... this works for my note 8.

S7 edge here same problem after the updates.... Been blaming ****ty Telus up to this point thinking how is it that I now have fiber optic yet my videos can't buffer... Sounds like it is an android problem!!

Hi everyone! I might have found a solution. On Samsung phones there is already a pre-existing FB account. So even if you deleted your app and download again the pre-existing is still there.
Under "Settings" go to "Accounts" then choose "Accounts" again, delete "Facebook"account. This should not delete your FB app. Go to Facebook and try playing video again. This worked for me. Good luck!
