Factory apps not accessable

I have attempted to access some factory installed apps on my Precedent (version 2.2.2) and I can't open them. "Sound Recorder" is one of them, and "SIM Toolkit" also. I also can't uninstall the apps that I can't open. When I open these not-working apps on the "Manage Applications" window, there are no highlighted buttons so I can't FORCE STOP, UNINSTALL, etc.

Anyone have some advice?

That seems to be a problem with the system they show as installed apps, but they have no Function and are just taking up Valuable space on the phone, my best advice to you is to root the phone and use adb or the terminal app from the market to try and delete some of the BLOTWARE that Straight Installed. i have so far Removed MAPS, BOOKS, LiveWallpapers, MagidSmoke WallPapers. and other stuff from mine, its a long drawn out process but it will help to free up some space.

Thank you for the info. I want to root my Precedent but am afraid to. The only working root files I found are free for a "trial period" or you have to pay quite a bit. I think the site was MegaUpload or something like that. Do you have a recommendation for a specific site where I can download the root files?

if you have to pay for rooting files they are not platform specific, i use megaupload all the time yes there is a small wait time to download the items in question but they have never charged me to download i even have one of their free accounts to use as a dropbox for exchanging files

Do you think that samsung will eventually create a firmware update that will bring these un-useable apps to life? Is there a way to email Samsung to let them know about this problem, or is it an issue that someone else could remedy? I know Straight Talk won't fix it. They aren't competent enough to wipe themselves.
