I wanted to update my OG Dinc to GB for my son. Need to get him off his flip phone.

I do a factory reset and it only partially wipes phone.
My old wall paper is still there, old apps still there. It is wiping data, setups but not restoring back to original settings.

I have been using a TB since the day it came out. The Dinc is an original unit from the day they came out. Running 2.2 stock not rooted.
It has been sitting in a box for about 10 months since I got my TB.

Any suggestions or ideas?

Do the factory reset in HBOOT.

Turn the phone off and then start it by holding down the Power and Vol Down buttons at the same time.

This will boot you into HBOOT. Use the Vol key to navigate to Factory reset and The Power button to select. That ought to do it!

OK. In Hboot reset I iget invalid command message???? Never seen that before. Now what?

I thought it was stock. Tried unrevoked long time ago. I didn't think that it worked. How would I tell if it did root?

Also can get rootchecker from the market place to check. And if you need i may have the files for you to hboot and do the gingerbread update for the dinc and then you can wipe and start over. Did this for my wife a few weeks back.

Well what do you know I have have had root all this time and didn't even know it. Just imagine all the fun I could have had:P

Well now your son can have the fun lol.

BTW a lot less problems with Verizon's GB after wiping my SD card and doing a factory reset. Bummer is shootme and wireless tether are no longer in app store so that I copied back to the sd card from Titanium.

Well then.... Boot into Recovery and do the Factory Reset Data wipe from there.

If you want to un-root for your son, use the Gingerbread RUU or PB31IMG.zip file from here: Stock Images | PvilleComp's

If you want to keep root, use the rooted GB update from here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/in...redible-sept-2011-rooted-gingerbread-ota.html

Or just load up CM7 and have fun! ;)

a couple of question. I would like to stay rooted. So I am going with the XDA rom.

1. Can I flash from Rom Manager Program?
2. Do I need to rename file?
3. If I can use Rom manager do I install from "recovery" or "install ROM from SD" options?

I would recommend flashing it manually in recovery. Too many people have problems with their flash when they do it through ROM Manager. Its a very easy process and only takes a few minutes. If you need step by step instructions check the ROMs and Hacks thread subsection of this Forum.

I read the post on XDA that someone had packaged Beats to work with any Sense-based ROM. I"m pretty sure it was ANY Sense ROM but now that I'm thinking about it, it may have been any Sense 3.0 ROM. You might try a search over on that site to find it or just outright Google it.

Glad you got it working jas.

I got your PM, but still won't let me respond to you. I know it's just an automated response. Thank you again for the help!!!!

The look on my sons face was priceless when I gave him the Dinc. I need someone else in the house on Android. I can't let him get sucked into the darkside like my wife and daughter.
