why is it when I click the .apk link from XDA site it tells me download unsuccessful. The content is not supported on ths phone. What am I doin wrong?

Do not use the stock browsers app because it will fail to download every time, I use Opera Mobile and it downloads without issues.. And as for downloading from other sources I wouldn't risk it because the app access a level of security that I wouldn't want to wonder if the source is untouched. Especially when the developer is allowing access to a reliable source, try Opera Mobile or a PC browser, I haven't had any issues downloading the apps.

Hi, I'm pretty new to this and not sure yet if I want to root my X yet. I might in the future. So I downloaded the z4 root apk file from Xda developers from the link in this thread to my PC. If I transfer it onto my sd card on the phone for future use, is there anything else I need to download to open the file to load it? Does it just load from pressing on the apk file? Like I said I'm new to android, so please excuse me not knowing much on how this works.

If you don't already have one you might want to download a file manager from the app market, my favorite is Super Manager, to make finding the .apk easier and other than that all you need to do is go to settings, applications, and enable Unknown Sources.

Then when your ready just open the file manager, find the file and install.

Your phone would have let you know, and taken you to the right area to change the setting. Handy if you forget.

Astro works great but I prefer Super Manager because 1, its free and 2, the most important feature, it allows you to access the system files allowing you to do things like change the boot animation

Hi all, I'm not new to the droid, I've been using one since their birth, but I am no developer and and do not know the innerworkings and scripts like most of you do. Unless I've missed something, to have root on GB you need to flash the pre-rooted leak. I haven't heard of anyone using Z4 on the GB leak.

z4root does not work for GB, it is only 2.2.1 compatible. The preroot version of GB is they only working method to root GB.

Oh ok...personally for what im tryin to do it's not worth the trouble. Hopefully, an update to z4root will work with GB already installed if not OH WELL.
