No really I have read about every one of theses chats with samsung and its never said they r working with verizon it always says that they can not say when or if the update will could out so that is something new doesn't mean anything but it is new.

Ty yah i knew it was new, lol im not crazy. I was second guessing myself;)

Gingerbread in Europe?!?!

Now they're saying that the Galaxy S should be seeing Gingerbread in a couple of weeks... in Europe!

Yes, I've put SuperClean on my Fascinate, but I think I threw up in my mouth when I read that.

THIS is the advantage of the iPhone! OS does not have to pass through a manufacturer AND a carrier. They finalize it, and it's done. The only people who see Android's "open source" is the manufacturer.

The original Galaxy S (i9000) is the one getting 2.3... Completely different phone than what we have. It was also first in the Galaxy S family to receive 2.2. If anything, it's good news for us, because it shows they are still supporting the Galaxy S line despite the Galaxy S 2's imminent release

To all waiting for Fascinate 2.2 release, forget about it. As far as I'm concerned vzw doesn't care about it's customers but just want to keep making money. I originally had the omnia i910 which, never got updated until after omnia 2 got released, so just know that they will release droid charge aka samsung stealth and also release SGS2 before you even smell an official release for the fascinate, which I currently own by the way. Once my contract is up, I'm switching to another carrier that I can trust.

That's the real point. This is a VZW issue, not a Samsung issue. Got burned by VZW with the Dare in the same way. I have been an VZW subscriber going back way before there was a VZW (back to 1989). I am NOT renewing again.

If you accept this, then why did the Droid X get 2.2, and the DInc? Is it because of Bing? Either way, it looks pretty bleak....

If the problem were Samsung, all the other Galaxy S phones would still be waiting, no? They may both be responsible together, it's hard to know. Being left out in the cold twice in a row by VZW can't be an accident, however. What makes it a particular shame is that the SF is quite a good phone and deserved better support.

Samsung is the one playing games.

I don't exactly believe this.

I am more inclined to believe that Samsung provides test code to VZW. They find bugs or issues, and they go back to Samsung with a list of fixes. VZW is (was) known for harsh testing of their products, so you can get a better product IMHO. But the back and forth cycle through the channels is slow.

Sadly, part of this is easily that VZW goes back to Samsung and requests that they add more BLOAT or BING be locked in.

In my Windows Mobile days, those on ATT would tend to get updates a bit more often then me on VZW, but those ATT upgrades tended to be filled with more bugs. I suspect that some of that is still true today.

It's hard to believe the "Verizon is just doing a thorough job testing" theory with the number of bugs/issues that have, and continue to, plague the phone on the stock system.

Everything about how the phone was configured screams Verizon has tried to make as much money as they possibly can through pre-install deals with other companies, even when the apps they're preinstalling negatively (sometimes majorly) effect the performance of the phone.

Maybe I'm just cynical, but I think concern for the end user's experience with the phone is pretty much at the bottom of Verizon's list of priorities.

Not sure if agree with the harsh testing either. I always ran some sort of hybrid on my BlackBerry to help with the bugs in the official tested releases.

Whatever happened to that class action lawsuit against Verizon for not providing Froyo?

VZW/Samsung need to be thrown under the bus for this.

Hit the nail on the head. +1

Even the Samsung Intercept is getting an official Froyo release before the Fascinate. It's laughable.

I think when my last phone contract is up, Jan 2013, I won't be sticking with Verizon.

I concur. I do really appreciate all the hard work that the devs have put into this device, making it competitive. I really like the phone I just dont like the politics. what good phones are on Metro PCS?
