Fascinate Rooting, ROMs, and Hacks Sticky Committee

Thanks for starting the new thread. I like where we are going with this. I posted my first suggestion. I don't know about the rest of you, but I think if we are going to combine threads to come up with the best 5 stickies, out of respect to DroidXcon and all the work he has put into creating the ODIN packages and the clockwork thread, those two could be combined to make up one of the stickies since they basically go hand in hand. With him having trouble incorporating cwm-all into his ODIN packages it just seems like a natural progression to have those two together so new rooter's can use his packages, then in the same thread get instructions on how to install cwm-all so they don't have to mess with stock blue recovery now that 2.9 includes cwm-all. And it seems he likes to keep his stickies open so people can feel free to come there and ask questions. I'm just a member here, so I'm trying to not step on toes or come across as bossy.

Understood, thanks :)

Tell me what you guys think of this plan:
1) Combine these threads into one and sticky since ROMs, themes, etc require frequent updates:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/verizon-fascinate-rooting-roms-hacks/57713-how-links-roms-themes-kernels-updated-3-20-11-a.html
http://forum.androidcentral.com/verizon-fascinate-rooting-roms-hacks/69183-how-install-boot-animations-links-updated-3-18-11-a.html
http://forum.androidcentral.com/verizon-fascinate-rooting-roms-hacks/56335-boot-animations-lists-links-instructions-updated-02-16-11-a.html
2) Make your "super thread" with topics you guys think are most important, and assimilate these two stickies into it so we can stay at the 5 sticky limit, closing it after it is completed:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/verizon-fascinate-rooting-roms-hacks/65924-guide-tools-information-mac-os-x-users.html
http://forum.androidcentral.com/verizon-fascinate-rooting-roms-hacks/66202-how-install-use-clockworkmod-recovery-w-screen-captures.html

Oh and I'm moving these posts to a new thread since we've gone pretty off topic here, myself to blame included..

Are you suggesting that I start a thread with: ROMs, Themes, and Kernels (combined with) boot animations - Links and resources? - then to have it stickied? Then have a second thread that also is stickied containing all the other suggested topics?
I am just looking for clarification. No disrespect implied with the questions.

Edit: I re-read the original post without distraction.. I understand now... I would be happy to do what ever actions are being asked. Just let me know what the committee decides .

Oh ic, I didn't know that Clockwork still needed to be installed after using DroidXCon's Odin packages (thought they came with working CWM). Alright then, how about this:

1) Combine these threads into one and sticky since ROMs, themes, etc require frequent updates:

2) Combine these two stickies per Landshark's suggestion:

http://forum.androidcentral.com/verizon-fascinate-rooting-roms-hacks/66202-how-install-use-clockworkmod-recovery-w-screen-captures.html

Yes exactly! The reason being the thread with all the other topics will be closed, and I will have to open it for anyone to make changes. I wanted a separate thread for ROMs, Themes, and Kernels (combined with) boot animations because I know that this can/will be updated daily due to the constant new releases of these items, and me opening it and closing it every day just isn't practical. Does that make sense?

I'm not sure what everyone else is seeing with how this would be formatted, but my vision is one giant sticky thread where post #1 is an explanation of how and why we got here to have this one giant super thread, and the table of contents listing what is in each post. So post #2 would basically be having Sheepy take posts 1-5 and 7 & 8 from his thread, maybe modifying them a bit, and taking the info from his post #6 and incorporating it into Mike's voodoo section. Then post #3 would be the first 4 posts from Mike's battery thread with a few tweaks to my small contribution to that thread I would like to make, and so on. So basically taking the first however many posts from each of your threads where you pretty much cover everything, and making them one long post on that particular topic.

I am cool with the suggestion.. Take me maybe 5 minutes to pull all the posts/resource links and image links out of the the two separate threads and combine them in a single.. Would the other thread be assembled separately then you would combine it?

Edit: I guess I was seeing the same thing Landshark was seeing as one single thread will all the topics included with the first post being the linked index.

Ah! Now I see and that makes total sense about Jaekar's threads because of how often he has to update them. So all we need to do is the following to have our 5 stickies:
1. Get DroidXcon's .02 on what his feelings are about housing his great threads into one sticky
2. Decide what all needs to be incorporated into the super thread as another sticky
3. Combine Jaekar's themes and boot animations threads into one sticky
4. Leave Adrynalyne's sticky alone
5. My vote would be to leave Braydon's Mac sticky on it's own so it's easy for Mac users to find as a valuable resource, unless there is not enough traffic at his sticky to justify that. And if it stays as it's own sticky, with his help incorporate his other two threads into the sticky so all the information is in one place:

I could simply combine the top posts of your three threads into a new sticky thread, and then you could edit as you see fit. Unless you'd like to start a new thread and compile it yourself which is perfectly fine with me.

The only problem is if we leave the [Guide] Tools and Information for Mac OS X Users thread as a sticky, then we would have 6 which is 1 too many. That was the reason I suggested putting it in the super thread. Do you have an idea on how to cut the sticky count down to 5 while keeping the Mac thread? If so and it works I'm all for it.

I get it now.. I was a bit slow on the uptake today.. Wow - too much time in swimming in xml and java yesterday.

Makes sense to me. I guess I want to know what the other committee members think? -

I was doing a fair amount of restructuring already today.. would not take much to just pull the guts out and drop them in to a new thread.

Sounds good, I'll let you have at it and will sticky it once you're done. I'll also close the current three threads to avoid confusion.

I'm at work so I can't really just blow out my thoughts easily. I think I have an awesome format but it will have to wait for me to get home. Please hold off on building the super thread till I can lay it out for review. I'll build a little diagram. I'm really good with educational formatting that's easy to follow.

Sounds like we've got an architect. Hope everyone is ready to have their threads within a thread (or are we all in a thread right now??).

Ok, now I'm embarrassed. DroidXcon is my guy and I wouldn't be where I am without him, and I totally overlooked his rooting, ebo1, returning to stock sticky. So the super thread would need to include Braydon's mac section. Also maybe ragnarokx, you could work with DroidXcon and get parts of Cory's EB01 thread http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...faq-plus-stock-unrooted-rooted-downloads.html into DroidXcon's sticky referenced above. DXC's thread has the "fix all" for flashing back to stock DI01, but Cory's has the "fix all" for flashing back to stock EB01, plus it includes information on how to get EB01 and not be rooted for those few who actually want it. We should really get DXC's input on a lot of this considering all the work he as put into these forums.

No worrys, i just have so many objections that i dont know where to start,, i would rather hang back and se what everyone comes up with before i start cutting things down. Maybe you guys will come up with something amazing that will address what my problems are. i have stated somethings in the past the have fallen deaf so i think i should hang back for now

I completely understand. I feel bad because I'm the one who got the ball rolling by posting what I thought was something funny about combining everything into a 1,000 page sticky, it kind of snowballed from there, and the way things are evolving, it looks like I'm going to end up with the least amount of work out of everyone.

I was considering combining all of my stuff (links, instructions and the like) into one thread some time ago. I have subsequently completed that task.. Regardless of that fact.

If it will avoid any conflict or issues I will happily incorporate the thread into any other location or thread. I do not desire the thread being stickied and have no desire to compete for space in that location. I have a great respect for all of my fellow posters and helpers. I know how much work goes into the development of these resources... Especially the work that DriodXcon has done.

Any and all resources of mine are available for the taking.

woohhh. what happened. i was looking all over the place for this. lol. aswome name btw. whos comittee chair. ooo, can i be commitee smart arse. :D.

seriously.

what threads and stuff were you guys thinking of putting in the super thread? i would also like to hear dans objections. i think ragnarox was on the right path, combine jaekar's threads as they all relate. i think one big mack thread would be good. and will sheepy be stealing my pie again?
