Leaving the phone in a hot car was the specific thing i was worried about. I wont have this issue myself, but i could see alot of people not reading the manual and leaving the phone in a hot car. Only to come back and seeing it in a cool down mode and flipping out. I work in IT and i know alot of people who are waiting to jump on this phone. Just another thing im sure ill have to deal with at some point.

Plus the feature being there in the first place makes me wonder what kind of temps this phone is capable of producing. My droid 1 gets hot after a decent trip using Nav. Imagine using the Nav, not knowing where you are and having the phone go into a cool down cycle. What a mess that could be.

Do you realize that this isn't the first phone to have this feature?

Anybody else catch this?

Memory card
Note: Your music, photos, and other files are
automatically stored on your smartphone?s internal
memory. You can purchase a memory card separately.

I've got a thunderbolt and that 32gb card is coming with me if i decide to sell and switch!

My droidx has it. Ive seen the message before. While using it tgwn placing on charger. You all to new to motorola another nice featue from them they also have a battery management like juice defender you will like.
From users manual page 16
In very limited circumstances such as when your phone has been exposed to extreme heat "Cool Down" message screens will appear. To avoid possible damage to your battery and phone, you should follow these instructions until the phone is within its recommended temperature range. When your phone is in cool down mode only emergency calls can be made.

I had a Voyager and I seem to remember seeing a message about it being hot. That would be after it sat in a hot car all day.
I would rather see it go into cool down mode than Brick mode. I know it sucks for tech support but I have little patients for people who can't look in a manual to solve a problem. Look at us, we have read the manual and its not even out yet.

"The Bionic, unlike the HTC Thunderbolt, will NOT be able to do 3G voice and data simultaneously either."

This is a bad thing correct?

Well, it depends how you look at it. My phone currently cannot do voice and data at the same time without WifI (honestly never tried). The way I was reading the documents was that Data would work on a call as long as LTE was available (or WiFi). So, you'll still be able to do voice/data but not if 3G is the only data available. LTE and/or WiFi is required.

Not necessarily. It will still be able to do 4g voice and data or voice while using wifi. as long as you're in a 4g area or have access to wifi you'll be able to do voice and data.

Ok thanks. I wasn't sure about this one and it kinda worried me. I'm just so lost on what phone to Upgrade to on Verizon. My Upgrade is due so I'm just waiting for the perfect phone to use it on.

You will not be disappointed in any of the current lineup (short of the Thunderbolt due to battery life sucking). The Bionic is obviously my phone of choice because its coming out soon and thankfully I didn't know about it until a few weeks ago so i'm not completely insane due to having to wait yet. (well, technically i am... but not as bad as others).

The phone you currently have is fine for 'stuff' LoL, but if you get an LTE phone with a single or dual core CPU you'll be happy living in the Android world. My OG Droid is only 550mhz, minimal ram, no HDMI, etc... and its still chugging along just fine (just slower than new stuff). Go check out the Charge and a few others in stores now and see how you like them and then (hopefully in about 30 days) go check out the Bionic and make a decision to jump or wait for whatever the samsung 'phone that cannot be named' gets released. Just look things over and get what makes you happy, its the best advice anyone can give you.

Thank you so much for your insight :)

So is anyone happy about the bigger battery for the Bionic? The original battery was going to be only 1400 mAh and now it's going to have a 1735 mAh battery. Good right?!?!

Happier, yes. Though, there were rumors that it would be 1900mah (or so). More is better in every way cept for thickness which may be the reason they stuck with the 1735mAH battery instead of going even larger. Just hoping the 335mah jump from original specs is enough to make it last noticably longer than the Thunderbolt or it'll be a huge disappointment. Guess we'll just have to see how the dual core CPU and Motorola LTE chip are on power consumption.

Exactly right. I hope the battery is enough to handle such power.

FYI re: overheating, Anandtech reported they ran into it with the Droid Charge (in Arizona): Link:

That said, I do have a problem with SAMOLED+ right now, one that I didn’t notice ever with any other SAMOLED or AMOLED display. The problem is especially severe in my climate, where at the time of this writing it’s literally 110 F (43 C) outside - overheating.

I’ve carried the Charge around for some time now, and noticed that when I spend lots of time outside using it in the sun, or leave it on my dashboard for navigation, the device will overheat and restrict maximum brightness to a little over half. As a result, display brightness is restricted right when you need it the most. If you let things get out of hand more, the Charge will disable battery charging to prevent the battery from exceeding safe operating temperatures in addition to keeping the display brightness low.

I’ve had phones on my dashboard, in my pocket, and outdoors in the 110+ F climate here all the time, and never have I experienced this much overheating. I stood outside with the Charge and an IR thermometer and saw this behavior take place when the front glass hit 105 F consistently, which seems a bit low for restricting things, although inside it’s probably substantially warmer. I suspect I’ll see the same SAMOLED+ overheat brightness restrictions kick in with the Galaxy S 2 as well. If you’re in a cool climate, you essentially can ignore this, or if you’re in a warm climate but not going to use the device for Google navigation on your dashboard, this isn’t a huge concern either. However, in climates like mine, it’s a day to day annoyance if you’re outside with the phone in hand for any amount of time. I’m not even an outdoors person (by any stretch of the imagination), and even then I’ve seen the Charge do this little overheat dance a few times already.

I like that Swype is built in. Hate having to reinstall this on my OG Droid every few weeks.

My only concern is that I have yet to see a OEM install of Swype that has the dark theme of the beta I am running on my OG Droid, nor with the horizontal word-correction window. I know the manual on the FCC page is old, but it shows a different version of Swype, I hope Bionic gets this ver 3.5, I'm spoiled.

Not too be too argumentative, but my biggest frustration with VzW and LTE is that all three current LTE phones are really last year's technology: single core, running previous versions of mfr's interface, no 1080p vid, no qhd, and (at least until recent updates - is TB up on GB yet?) Froyo instead of GB, plus priced as high or higher than any competitor's "4G" phones. Granted, all of these phones are massive improvements over 2-year-old devices (such as my OG Droid!) but Bionic is really the first current-technology LTE phone that VzW is offering, and when you are having to lock in to a 2-year contract, you don't want to start out with a phone that is one year behind the tech curve, and if Big Red is going to shove a premium price down your throat, at least you will be getting a premium phone.
