FYI re: overheating, Anandtech reported they ran into it with the Droid Charge (in Arizona): Link:

I just had that today in NYC with my Charge. Definitely not near 104 but my screen went so dark that I had to pull over to see what all the fuss was about because I would have crashed otherwise x). I'll probably be returning the Charge and waiting for the Bionic though. Not having as much fun with it as I feel I should...

"The Bionic, unlike the HTC Thunderbolt, will NOT be able to do 3G voice and data simultaneously either."

This is a bad thing correct?
Yes, it is a bad thing if you want to tether and still receive calls while you're in a 3G area. The Bionic will not be able to do this.

Thanks, Robrecht

I remember when I used to tether with my OG Droid calls would still come through while tethering. Granted, you couldn't use data while talking on the phone, but the calls definitely came through.

No i didn't, Please enlighten me?

This is however the first phone im considering for myself that has this feature. Which is why i raised concern when using turn by turn.
iPhone has this feature. My cousin stepped outside to call me in midday Las Vegas heat a week ago and his phone told "NEGATIVE take me back inside and use me where it isn't 110 degrees"

Lol was it an older model? These phones are made for MOST people. MOST people don't live in over 100 degree weather. It never gets over like 90 here, and if it does it doesn't ever make it to 100. Most people I would think live in somewhat cold climates. Except for that heat wave XD.

Happier, yes. Though, there were rumors that it would be 1900mah (or so). More is better in every way cept for thickness which may be the reason they stuck with the 1735mAH battery instead of going even larger. Just hoping the 335mah jump from original specs is enough to make it last noticably longer than the Thunderbolt or it'll be a huge disappointment. Guess we'll just have to see how the dual core CPU and Motorola LTE chip are on power consumption.

True, and either way, in a couple months, we'll have 2000mAh chinese slim cell batteries that retro fit the OEM. Hopefully.

Its actually the 4G ATT model.

Or whatever the iphone naming convention is. I'm not well versed but I know it's the latest.

I wonder if there is a setting so you can decide if you want to let a call interrupt your data session or if just always does that?

Thanks, Robrecht

Yes, it will disconnect the data to receive the call. Remember, for everything we use it for, it is primarily a phone so that is going to be its first priority.
@tdizzel Off topic, very very nice signature :)

on topic, i may have not read correctly, this was a long thread to wade through but was SVDO not in the users manual or the actual write up by the FCC? Does that have to be tested and approved by the FCC or can it be thrown in without testing. What I am getting at is, maybe it wasn't in the draft manual but is in the phone

Didn't read all the pages but want to comment on the cool down mode. The droid x has it and it hasn't been a problem for me except for 1 time. I left my phone in the car dock in the blazing hot sun and it went into cool down mode. I took the battery out and let it cool down and when I put the battery back in all was back to normal, except for I couldn't make any phone calls. The dialer would just close. That kind of freaked me out. Came up with the idea to make it over heat again and go back into cool down mode and let it sit and cool down without turning it off. That fixed the problem. When it comes out of cool down mode it says something like cool down mode has exited.

I must say it took 130F + to over heat it so I wouldn't worry about it too much. I use my DX in the car dock on my dash for navigation and music all the time and it never over heats. Until I leave it in a closed car in the blazing hot sun, lol.
