Through some conversations I've had with VZ reps, they all seem to be waiting for the TB as well.

The last 3 reps I spoke to all said that they plan on getting it whenever its released...they just don't know when and I believe them.

A couple however, did say that VZ might not release it for a MONTHS, due to some rumors about there being issues with the LTE network. One actually said that she wouldn't be surprised if it came out in 2012!? While it could be true, I don't buy that because it would be a major embarassment for VZ to announce this phone with fanfare just weeks ago at CES with a Q1 release.

I think it comes out in late Feb, but quite possibly early March depending on unexpected delays like the storm, etc.

I also very clearly remember the BB Storm2 launch as very similar...there were rumors of when it would come out but VZ refused to give an actual release date and never ran commercials. If I'm not mistaken, the release happened one week after the rumored date. One day it was just suddenly available.

that is not a fair statement. they dont even have 110 million subscribers. this is saying that 110 million people will be walking through the doors of the airports. its a little sneaky wording if you ask me. anyway they answer to your question is no.

They've done it before. Exclusively with best buy.

And i don't think VZ is pushing this as hard because 4G is not in enough areas for people to care. Not to mention it's not droid branding. They don't really care about this phone otherwise we would have seen them market it like when they first released LTE. Even when the phone is released (on thursday lol) im willing to bet you won't be seeing any commercials.

You do realize that some people saw a TB commercial on TV yesterday, right?

yea i keep laughing at these people that think VZW won't have Thunderbolt on day 1 they just cant seem to wrap there mind around the term "retail exclusivity" as to just meaning 3rd party B&M retail outlets (best buy, walmart, radioshack) and does not apply to VZW corporate stores

VZWs 4g network is here, nothing that happens will change that. it doesnt matter how many bolts they sell. if this was so important to VZW and their 4G network why has it not been advertised whatsoever, no release date, etc. the only advertising was done by BB.

While I think it will definitely be at VZW stores, I did not always think that for initial launch. And I think the logic is pretty sound. We think Thunderbolt is a big deal, but VZW only wants it to be a technical success (ie. no massive problems) and doesn't care about sales records, or moving a lot of units a la iPhone.

Because there's no way they'd launch their 1st 4G phone in a freakin BB and not in their stores or online. That's just stupid logic. The "exclusive" is simply for BB B&M stores and Verizon retail.

I can't believe they'd launch any later than March. I have March issues of PC World and Popular Science that have ads for TBolt saying that is "currently available." Of course, printed ads are no warranty but why spend the $$$ in those ads if the isn't going to be available?

i never said date it would come. i was simply pointing out that it was confirmed "again" that it was coming to BB first. i dont know why that is so hard for you guys to believe? they are perfectly capable of handling the release and are obviously one of the largest VZW partners. yall are acting like if it doesnt hit VZW first or same day it will fail!! that is hilarious, not having it at VZW will not affect the sales of this phone at all, period! the only people who even know it exists are here on these forums. also, where has any leak ever stated that the exclusivity was for 3rd party B&M stores, it hasnt. why are yall adding to or creating a second part of the statement to make it fit your logic?

WTF? you are basing this off of all of the solid logic VZW has displayed in the past in relation to phone releases. VZW has the worst logic when it comes to phone selections and release plans.

I get a call once a week from Verizon Wireless asking me to sign a new contact (mines been up since Sept) and trying to get me to upgrade. I always tell them no I want the Thunderbolt. They say "Oh ok" and thats it. Today, the guy said "Oh I have a memo today about it!". I got all excited...he put me on hold for 10 minutes...came back and told me "That phone is coming in June".

Just goes to show you those phone reps will say anything so you'll get a phone now and they can get some commission.

Those of us with NE2 credits and local BBs that refuse to give us the credit will be purchasing from VZW. I can't imagine that VZW would tell those in my position that if we want the TB and want to use our NE2 credit that we have to wait until the BB exclusivity deal expires.

I'm happy for you, but I've asked three different employees on two separate visits. The BBM near me will not give me the credit. I also called VZW about it and was told that BB is under no obligation to provide NE2 credits to customers.

I think your source of 17th for BB and a week later at VZW is going to end up being dead wrong. My money is on VZW having this phone day 1. No reason for them not to.

I honestly feel the same way. Exclusive means for third party, not 100%. Verizon Stores will have it day 1. Plus, as I said in another thread, a worker in Best Buy mobile showed me a screen that was updated just today that shows the phone being "on the floor" on 2/24.
