Fell in love with the IPhone X

I have both and the Note 8 is still my daily. I've had iOS devices since the 3Gs and iOS 11 brings nothing drastically new. I like the small form factor though but that's about it.

I agree. For those of us fortunate to have both it's the best of both worlds.

I've got both. About the only thing I like about the iPhone X is the size and screen. Everything else is glimped. No dedicated navigation bar, gestures can be off and frustrating, ios is glimped and limited.

Note 8 beats it on every aspect. Features, speed, etc. Prefer my Note 8 personally

I agree.

See you guys later. I tried an iPhone X and it is the phone for me. The Note8 is good just not good enough. I don't get into the theme, wallpaper, icon change scene. I just used my note8 like an iPhone.

I wish you all the best. Have fun!

How do you like the speed of various tasks on iOS (e.g. opening apps, loading videos, etc.). I keep hearing that the Note 8 is the first Android phone to finally beat an iPhone in a real-world test involving opening apps and performing some standard action, but I've always been suspicious of those claims. All in spite of being a Samsung fanboy.

iPhone X's animations make it slower than the Note 8 for tasks like opening apps and bringing up the multi-tasking views. The camera speed is the same - have not seen differences in shutter speed but Note 8 camera app rocks with several camera modes.

I always say whatever makes you happy. But the iPhone forum is down the hall.
Happy Holidays

I tried the X and in no way does it compare to the note 8. The X is a nice device but it seems more beta than a new release but the note 8 is a top rated device.

Samsung "won" a speed test, but really it was just because they cached a ton of apps and the 6gb of RAM on the Note8 won the day.

That said the only appreciable difference in app opening is in some larger games that are optimized for iOS. Any regular tasks, on any modern smartphone are all the same in normal use.

Android is much smoother than it used to be, especially since companies like Samsung have toned down their skin. iOS vs. Android is not largely a decision about customization and freedom of the ecosystem.

Just made the switch from the N8 to the X. I'll probably keep the N8 as a 'back-up' In case I ever get the urge to go back to android! Plus the value on android devices drop very quickly compared to iPhone's so might be worth keeping anyway.

I've got until early January to return the X so a good few weeks to decide whether to keep or not. For me the size of the N8 was at times a pain. The size of the X is just perfect and I've been on android now for a while (S5, S6, S7 and S8+) and just fancied a change as I believe It is possible to become bored on both OS.

I had the opposite reaction. I bought an iPhone X and absolutely hated iOS. The phone itself is a beauty, no doubt about that, but using iOS was a nightmare. It felt like a kiosk computer in a public place. The camera is simply not as good as my Pixel 2 - it blows out highlights very easily and always chooses a slow shutter speed in low light over a higher ISO and faster shutter speed like the Pixel 2. OIS is no good if the subject is not perfectly stationary. Notifications on iOS are a nightmare and the inability to use widgets on the home screen or set default apps are definite disadvantages. No notification LED either. I could go on, but suffice to say I returned it for refund.

I always say, use what works for you. Good luck.

The iphone is faster. For instance if you are on a webpage and you go to share it, say text it to a friend the operations run much quicker on the iphone at least in my experience.

If I were to get an X for free I'd totally give it a fair shake. I usually hate iOS but I messed around with one in the store and liked the swipey functionality and the screen is nice. I like tweaking too much tho to stick with iOS full time. It is probably the nicest iphone I've seen.

I have the iPhone X, Pixel 2, Essential and V30.
Haven't decided which one will get the spare SIM.
Main phone line is on Pixel 2. Loved my OG Pixel and am loving the Pixel 2 even more.
Sold my Note 8 a few weeks back. Too big a phone but damn that screen is awesome!
