File management in KK?

/System/Media/Audio/Alarms is where I found the notification sounds on my Nexus 5. Maybe if you can copy and paste Pager into that folder it would work.

I can't get to that folder without root. I tried following the jcase thread over on xda for getting root in KK, but about half the information for what needs to be done is not mentioned and I ended up bricking my phone. I exchanged it as I was still within my 14 day grace period. I won't be trying to root again (and I had absolutely no problem rooting my RAZR MAXX on JB.... ).

Incidentally, I observed this same behavior on my RAZR when I plugged it into my computer with a USB. The phone would lose access to the storage space where the alert tones were stored under USB mass storage mode. The phone would then change all my custom alert settings everywhere to seemingly random 4 digit numbers that linked back to stock android alerts / ringtones.

In the current phone, it obviously has access to the alert tone files because I can see them in the selection window. It simply acts like it doesn't have access to them them instant I click OK to apply the selection.

I used an app called Airdroid to transfer my custom ringtones, alarms, etc., as well as about a gig of music. It's done over Wi-Fi, so you won't break any speed records, but you can manage quite a few tasks using the simple web interface.

AirDroid gives your Android device its very own webtop [App Review] | Android Central

It's been updated since the article, and is easy to use for simple device management. It's a lot easier than dragging out the cables...

It's also good for quick & dirty backups...
