So I have already preordered from RS and I was thinking. What is the final price going to be with the 2 year upgrade. I am talking about with activation and all. I know sales tax varies, but I am trying to gauge the price I am going to pay.

199.99 plus tax. The tax is based off the 499.99 price RS has. $18 activation fee but that gets added on your Sprint bill.

I found this out when I bought my BB Tour...made it a bit more than I thought it would be...

I haven't upgraded a phone in a while. I usually just buy it outright. That's why I was curious.

so, wait a minute, even though I am getting the rebate immediately, I have to pay taxes on the price that BB charges at retail, which means I will be paying almost $15 more in taxes?

That's like paying some major interest to get the money immediately. (and yes, the taxes here is over 9%).

That's poopy that the tax is based off of the full retail, but it won't sway me from picking mine up.

What would be really nice is if Radio Shack price matched items. I want to pick up the Blueant Supertooth 3 but not for RS price of 129.99. I can get it online for about half that with shipping

I think you only have to pay tax on the "499.99" price if you're in California... I may be wrong. I think if you're in Georgia or Florida that isn't the deal... I don't know for sure, though. Any RS employees care to chime in and clarify?

I am a manager for the shack in jersey. We pay tax on the ending price of the phone after the instant rebates, not full retail.

nice .. i will be purchasing my phone from RS in NY... should be charged tax on the 199.. so about $18 .. rather then on the 499 ... that is the way it should be

That depends on where you live. Here in NJ the tax is based on the $199.95 price. Are you in California?

Yes it can and does vary by what state you live in. I am pretty sure CA is not the only state that does taxes before rebates though. Sucks, but there you go. Remember that a rebate (instant or otherwise) is not a sale price. That is why CA calculates based on the $499.

I have a bunch of Best Buy friends from my previous days of working there as a manager, and I can't get a peep out of any of them about the price at BBY.

Anyone hear if it's the same $499 as RS?

Matt
