Finally made the Switch from the Pre

I was a huge WebOS supporter and hated to leave it but the Pre Broke again and I couldn't bare the wait for another half broken refurb from Sprint.

So far I LOVE the phone and LIKE the OS. I miss WebOS and am still getting used to Android but the phone quality just cant be compared with the shotty pre

HTC has me a believer in their hardware

Some of the Apps that carry over I do not like as well as I did on my Pre, some are much better(everything google) but I am blown away by the number of free quality apps- All of the business apps I used for WebOS(and paid for) a better alternative seems to be free on android

I just wish I could get the hang of Multitasking- WebOS cards seem to blow away this android run in the background stuff

Welcome. I'm in the same boat. In pandora I keep trying to swipe back to see the last few songs that were played, and I can't. You'll get used to not back swiping soon enough.

The app selection is much better due to the openness of the API's and the quality of hardware. The autofocus cameras make barcode reading apps possible, the mic API's make things like voice command via Vlingo possible.

Hopefully the Palm app selection will get more competitive this summer.

i used to have a palm pre, and I had an android phone before the pre. When I came back to to android I realized that the cards in webos are awesome. it's an amazing way to handle multitasking. But I love the bigger screen and the great build quality.

Made the same move myself yesterday

Reluctantly, I made the same move myself yesterday. I was making do with my original 2 year old Pre, with a bad power button and battery degradation issues, hoping to upgrade to a Pre3 when they were released this summer. But with nary an announcement made by HP or Sprint that the Pre3 would be made available anytime in the near future, I had to make a change. The phone's ear speaker was failing on calls and too much of a hurdle to overcome by using the speaker phone or a headset to make and recieve calls. I had been a loyal Palm user since the Palm Pro (2nd generation Palm) in 1999 and and a Palm Phone user sine the Kyrocera days in the early 2000s.

At any rate, I chose the EVO Shift because I needed a physical keyboard and read better reviews than the Samsung Epic. The last thing I did was double check to find out if there's something close to being released with a keyboard and everything I've found says that's not th case.

I'm excited to have access to a much larger app catalog and learning how to customize and hack the EVO to suit my needs.

So long Palm. I'll always remember our time together. (Sniff)
