I love the fingerprint scanner on this phone, and it is usually how I unlock it. Today, it stopped trying to read my fingerprint. When I went to settings, the fingerprints section is totally missing. I have restarted it twice and it is as if there never were fingerprint options. I don't get it. Anyone else run into this?

It happend to me too, but i drained out the battery, let the phone sit for 30 minutes and it was back. Try it

Hello,

1 month ago : Volume Up&Down + Power boot method were not working... So I preferred to forget this welcomed feature.

But I've tried again this method few min ago --> fingerprint identification option CAME BACK !!! It's working now.

1/ I still don't understand why such option can come back if it was an hardware issue... (another apps installed after my issue were logging that no fingerprint devices was recognized)
2/ Same Symptoms for LG G5 & Honor8 = same technical issue (hardware is missing ?)
3/ Since I've tried again, my honor8 has crashed on the ground 2 times now... So it maybe "remap" fingerprint connection ?

Really hope you will get it back too.

It's like getting a Porsche Turbo without getting Turbo boost...

Last week my G5 came back from repair finger scanner. Function was oké for 1 week and then failed.
Now after trying this option fingerprint sensor is back.

I have the lg Stylo 2 plus and my fingerprint options have totally disappeared it was where it says security and fingerprint options but now it just says security any ideas on how to fix it

Hi I tried the volume and power button method but all it showed is barcode for IMEI and says press power button to exit and restart, did but did not work.

Now the option you suggested, connecting to windows laptop, I did but did not show anything, do I need to do anything after connecting to laptop?

Hi i found this thread yesterday. I had the same problem scanner stopped working no mention of it in security options. I tryed a few things nothing worked. Was going to try factory reset ended up only holding down the volume down and power button and it came back now working fine. I must have restarted phone 10 times.

Hi I've recently experienced the same problem (it was yesterday).
Last night I turned my phone off before bed and when I turned it back on in the morning the fingerprint reader was back and working! Hopefully this will work for everyone else.

So you are saying that below the location settings it is totally gone? That's not just fingerprints....its fingerprints and security.

If that's true, do a factory reset

I have the Stylo 2 and up until just last week the fingerprint worked fine. After the last 2 updates, the fingerprint option just vanished. Like it was never there. Ive done a factory reset and still nothing. I loved the fingerprint option because it was the only lock that kept my kids out of my phone. I tried the volumes and power button suggestion that was posted up thread but its not doing anything. What else can I do??

I have an LG G6. Yesterday the fingerprinting stopped working and the fingerprint option under settings disappeared. Coincidentally, I installed Facebook messenger on my phone (b/c friends keep using it to contact me...) two days ago. So, I uninstalled FB messenger and now my fingerprint option has reappeared under settings and all is back to normal. Just sayin'...in case it helps anyone. Maybe another reason to not use the FB messenger app?
