Fingerprint scanner getting worse?

Am i the only one that sees it getting worse as time goes by. I legitimately have to try several times to get it. People complain about Face ID swipe to open, but it's much faster than my S10. I get so annoyed. If my fingers are cold or wet, forget about it.
I have my right thumb in there twice, as recommended.

I was having all sorts of trouble with it and removed the screen protector, much better for me not perfect but at least usable.
