Fingerprint Scanner Not Working Well

I need to say a few things, based on the comments I've been reading:

First off, any time new technology is released - whether it's new across the board, or new for a particular brand, there's a learning curve and some tweaking that needs to happen. Period. Those of us who love the newest, shiniest, cutting-edge devices, and want them as soon as they come out the oven KNOW that the best version of a device is at least a software update away. I know this. I've known it for a long time. So I accept the glitches, in exchange for having the newest phone before most people have it.

Let me keep it 100% - the fingerprint and iris scanners on the s9 were PERFECT. Folks melted down about the scanner being on the back of the phone - I think I hit the camera twice in the beginning, and that was it. The iris scanner was quick and accurate. BUT folks get bored and have to have the next greatest thing - which often comes with a higher likelihood of failure. It's like when power windows on cars came out. Power windows are great...until they get stuck and there's no way to crank the window up - and the rain and snow blows in your car (yes, I'm old). So if you want perfection, or close to it, you wait until the kinks get worked out.

The first Power Windows in cars were in the 1940...lol

I have to admit the fingerprint sensor doesn't always work especially with screen off but I'm patient and I'll see how it works with a little more time

Well, I'm not THAT old (I'm 56). But I remember power windows on my parent's car getting stuck...I was in high school, and my mom picked me up after class. I remember my classmates pointing and laughing, as i got rained on, sitting on the passenger side. I almost died of embarrassment. Thanks for taking me back, Mike.

Yeah. It's hit or miss with me too. I tried deleting the registered finger prints and starting over - no noticeable improvement.

Lol....yeah... they weren't really mainstream till the late 60's.

Yes me too and I registered my thumb twice, this says a lot coming from me because I wasn't expecting it to be great

But I am patient

Just picked up my phone from BB. I'm having no (0) issues with FPS. I've been signing into all my secure apps (banking, CC, etc) using it. I did scan the same finger (thumb) twice.

Did you take the screen protector off or keep it on?

Mine is much better today, I think because I'm getting used to where to put my thumbs

The purpose is to make the fps more secure and make the phones look more streamlined without that physical button on the back or front. Not because it's faster than the physical button ones. Besides we're only talking a few microseconds here. I've seen plenty of reviewers having no problems with the s10 fps. I just got my s10+ so I get to see for myself now.

Hope you have positive results.

It's a POS. How unsecure is face unlock ? Glad someone took off the screen protector off to try it , thanks bud. I hope it gets better with software updates.

Face unlock is a complete joke. Have someone take a picture of your face on their phone and they’ll be able to unlock your phone with that.

So, day three with the S10+ and I've had one rejection on the FPS today (so far). It just so happens, I had deleted that fingerprint profile from the phone (my bad) so I had to add it back. Granted, I've only unlocked it 20 times today, but on day three of the learning curve the only rejection has been because of my brain fart.

At this point I can firmly state, there is nothing wrong with this tech. But it does take getting used to.

So when registering my thumb prints, my right thumb get errors and requests to press harder or longer. When I do my left thumb it flies right through the process no issues. This is definitely an issue with different types of thumbs.

My right thumb works most of the time, but my left thumb rarely works. lol
Im right handed. If that makes a difference.
