Fingerprint Scanner Not Working Well

Had some issues at the beginning but now working very well. Even with the screen off I place my finger in the right place.

Both my thumbs are now notably sore from being told to "press harder"...just ridiculous. Good thing there are multiple other options. Now, I ask this...why is this better than the Note 9's FPS? Because it's newer tech is not a good answer to me.

Because like the note 9 and others with capacitive fingerprint scanner they map out your prints in 2D as the ultrasonic does it in 3D making more secure.

Mine is working perfect AFTER removing the plastic protector and registering both thumbs twice for the THIRD time. The third time I tried to train myself to use the flatter part of my thumb where I would normally press closer to the tip on my last phone (S7) and rotated my thumb at least 45 degrees for every other register. Screen Sensitivity or whatever was on by default on my phone. Mine now seems just as fast and accurate as my S7. I think the main thing is to scan lower than you normally would and make sure to rotate your thumb as you're registering it. Again, try staying away from the tip of your thumb.

Did a few things not sure if they help or I and the sensor eventually learnt from each other:

- removed the screen protector. Not for the fingerprint but because I do not like the feeling of plastic

- registered my right thumb twice. Eventually deleted one as I needed for the the left one

- got an update an hour later and one of the improvements mentioned were the fingerprint

Yea mine is working perfect now after my third attempt at registering my two thumbs both twice using the method I explained above, hasn't missed a beat yet... Happy with the ultra sonic scanner now...

They were probably responding to pressure because it was supposed implemented with S8. It seems a bit premature but my guess they felt it was good enough to release. Hopefully there is a fix assuming that the units not responding well isn't due to hardware. I was on the fence and waiting for a deal but now I'm not so sure.

So I peeled the factory installed "screen protector" off and re did my fingerprints and it seems to have made a huge improvement. I did however just put lotion on, so I'm not sure if that's helping or not. We'll see tomorrow at work after I wash my hands 20 times with pumice soap. The Joy's of being a mechanic, my hands are always dried out and cracking.

Noticed your using the tip of your thumb. Try re-scanning your thumb emphasizing the flatter part of the thumb and use that part of the thumb on the fps.

It's actually working much better. Not sure why. Perhaps it needs to "loosen up"

I dont know how y'all are doing it but I cant get it to work correctly.. it gives me error 80% of the time... Face unlock so much faster right now for me. Some of y'all took the screen protector off, does that make it better? I really dont want to take the screen protector off.

There is also the setting to make the FPS more sensitive, it says if you are using a screen protector. I enabled that. Maybe it made a little different, but I don't think anything earth shattering, although I'm still in the learning curve of how hard and long I need to press.
