Fingerprint Scanner Not Working Well

I agree with the skin types may be causing issues. I wear a lot of hand lotion so my fingers are not usually dry. I have rather small fingers it constantly tells me to cover the entire scanner or to push harder and then it says No match LOL.

No matter if I push or just lay my finger on it. It says no match. I’ve had a lot of phones I didn’t think I was this illiterate LOL

Have you gotten the update?

I was extremely disappointed in everything due to the FPS not working before installing the update.

After installing the update, I have had increasing success with it. Initially after the update, it was successful 50% of the time. This was a big improvement over the 5% prior to the update.

Now, I am successful at least 75% of the time. I am surprised when it doesn't work now. I do not know if this is due to learning how to use it better or if it's just working better. I had followed the steps in this thread to improve performance without luck prior to the update.

I've just decided on using face unlock for the unlocking the phone and fingerprint for banking apps and Samsung pay. The fps isn't as frustrating when you're not using it 100 times a day.

Seems like after I register my thumbs it seems to work great for a couple hours then back to crap again.

I have a password on my watch too.... When I put it on I have to put it in. Don't have to put the password in until I remove the watch.

For the most part it works well and like I said before I have patience but what bothers me is when I do it from the dark screen and absolutely nothing happens not even an error message it's like the phone is dead so I have to wake it to try again

I am using the phone with the preinstalled screen protector. By turning on Touch Sensitivity in Display Settings, and using my index finger instead of my thumb, the fingerprint reader has been working 100% of the time for me. Very pleased with the S10+ so far.

One week later, fps 99% accurate, with in 1 second unlock. Pre surpplied screen protector still on the phone, touch sensitivity off. More than happy

You shouldn't have to grease up your finger, wait for a full moon, stand on one foot while holding your nose to get get the scanner to work. If it's sooo complicated that it needs a separate manual and a dedicated video, it's not ready.

Some people may have great experiences because their phone has a better scanner... that is possible. But folks gotta stop acting like all of us who aren't having that same great experience somehow lack proper finger positioning. It should not be that complicated.

I never wanted an "ultrasonic" FPS anyway. The one on the back of the phone was perfect. So was the iris scanner.

Are the screens on these things pretty tough?

When I was initially setting up the FPS it kept telling me to PRESS HARDER, so I was pressing pretty hard on it.

I guess I am just being paranoid.

Are you going to return it?
