Fingerprint Scanner Not Working Well

Ah, I thought you were talking about Iris scan. Still believe too bad they ditched it... probably to avoid the notch.

I don't believe anyone that uses Face ID with cameras only has used it for secured transaction so I guess it is generally abandoned.

Apple Face ID doesn't use cameras from what I read. It uses an IR sensor along with a projector that the IR sensor uses. Hence the need for the notch.

I believe the infra-red was for Iris.... face u-lock can use a depth sensor, that is what iPhone does. Again, if it was that easy you assume they would have done that.

Not sure if this was mentioned earlier but another way to get a good fingerprint read is to scan both thumbs as one fingerprint. Scanning the same finger twice as separate fingerprints didn't really improve anything for me. I having better results using this method.

This! I almost never have an issue with my fingerprint now. Thank you!

Pardon my ignorance, but what do you mean scan both thumbs as one fingerprint?

For those still having fps challenges what model do you have and have they received the update?

What I don't get is why Sammy or the carriers would update the 128GB models differently than the 512GB and 1024GB models. Is the fps different in the 128GB model?

I currently have trouble with the fingerprint scanner.

AT&T S10 128 with software update
original screen protector in place
each thumb scanned in twice
touch sensitivity on

So even after the update it's still problematic. Sigh.

Yes. Mine updated first day I had it. There are many people on here that still have problems even after the update.

My gut is the sensor wasn't tested enough by Samsung. or they tested it without the screen protector . And the screen protector was an afterthought.

I haven't tried it without the screen protector.

I finally got my phone yesterday. First thing I did was check for an update. Yup it was there and I downloaded it. Then I registered both thumbs twice. From my one day experience, the FPS has worked about 90% of the time. If anyone had the N4 or S5 and remember how bad the FPS was, well it's better than that. Right now it's been working almost all the time so it hasn't bothered me...yet. It's only been a day so we'll see.

Good to hear

Well I'll probably use face unlock I just think it'll be easier but I'll try the FPS my husband doesn't have a problem with it. But I'm used to looking at my phone now and unlocking it with the intelligent scan or whatever it is now on my 9 plus. I'm not going to want to hit the power button all the time and I will turn on lift to wake and double tap. I just enabled lift to wake on my 9 plus just to try it out I don't think double tap is there though is it?

You do know that they removed the iris scanner, right? The new system is fooled by a lot of things.
