Fingerprint Scanner Not Working Well

I wonder if the S10 learns your print over time the way OnePlus and Pixel do. Each time you open your phone they capture more parts of your print.

Lol...how its going to learn ?
It's not adaptive fingerprint sensor
It stores the data when you first set up to later match with your prints.

Fwiw, this morning I was succeeding with the fps maybe 5% of the time. Now I'm doing it 80%.

On the One Plus and Pixel as it matches your print each time you open the phone, at the same time it records more data from your print into it's database so that it gets better over time.

Is that so , I have the pix 2xl and 3xl and 1+6 none of them say this when I register my fingerprint. If you know something I dont then share it with me .

I have the unlocked 1TB S10+ and I am able to figure out the best way to unlock it using the fingerprint scanner.

As long as I press the screen where the sensor is and leave it press until it unlocks, it works almost 100% of the time. It won't work if I gentle press on the screen. It needs a little bit of pressure to work. Even if you press it hard, it will still unlock, as long you leave it press on the screen until it unlocks.

Also, this is before the software update. I haven't receive a notification to download it yet.

That's a big improvement, what did you do or change?

I don't have a strategy, exactly. When I hit it right, I just repeat it over and over as I watch TV or listen to an audio book. Kind of like you see in YouTube videos where they are demonstrating the tech. Now I can tap it with my right thumb and pointer pretty well.

And all of a sudden I can't make it work at all. Washed my hands, and now my fingers don't read.

Edit:. Lotion. I used some lotion and now I'm getting 100% success.

I might've gotten lucky but mine works awesome. Way better than the s9 plus did. I would say maybe only a couple times it did not work, and that was because I was trying to test its limits. The hardest part is remembering where the sensor is. I hope a AOD comes out like the home button on the s9.

Mark my S10 regular down as having a troublesome fingerprint scanner. Tapping the sensor doesn't work at all, I have my two thumbs registered twice each and mine seems to require holding my finger on it for about 1-2 seconds firmly for it to open.
OTOH, the phone itself is wonderful and battery life in the first full day has been terrific...

People who are having trouble, are your hands dry? Mine were, but a bit of lotion changed everything. Now, I'm not crazy about this sensor not working when my skin is not moisturized, but at least this is something to explore.

I have to say it's getting a little better. I redid the fingerprints again and used more of the wide part of my thumb, it's better for sure.
I'm also getting better results by registering only the fat part of my two thumbs and not moving it around during each registration pass disregarding what it says about moving it around. A bit more reliable now...
