Fingerprint Scanner Not Working Well

View attachment 299662

I don't see add anywhere. I can only uncheck Fingerprints
Settings - Biometrics and security - fingerprints.

You can add up to four of them, could be the same finger or different doesn't matter.

Re: I've discovered the solution to the FPS issue

Actually... you are right. But that's not a very practical way to unlock your phone haha. I do however think that might help understand how to improve it or fix the issue so many people are having.

This has been well covered in the "Fngerprint Scanner Not Working" thread. Some people apply lotion or moisturizer. I agree it's not practical and it shouldn't be necessary.

I've discovered its terrible and would rather just use my face

Just lick your thumb before you scan. There you go.

That's okay as long as you're not worried about security. It's very easy to defeat that with a picture or video or even a siblings face.

To be honest in the 8yrs or so I had iPhones I never once had a code on it. I think I'll be ok

As I posted in another post I've found that this has to do with moisture on your fingertip. If your fingertip is dry (as it's likely to be in the winter with very low humidity levels) the FPS works very inconsistently -- if at all. Just moisten your fingertip with some lotion or a bit of saliva and it works like a champ. I imagine that this won't be as much of an issue as we move into warmer weather where the humidity is significantly higher. But in the dry winter, this is going to be the solution to getting this to work. And with this, it works 95%+ of the time.

I'm sure you will but I think the majority are concerned about that. Myself, I'm not too concerned either.

Re: I've discovered the solution to the FPS issue

Good way to keep people from asking to use your phone.

Ah...an added benefit. :D

But son of a gun if it doesn't work like a charm. Until Samsung offers an update to address this "dry finger" issue, this is what I'll be doing.

Re: I've discovered the solution to the FPS issue

Yeah, this was discovered back on the 6th.

Re: I've discovered the solution to the FPS issue

I have face unlock enabled and that opens the phone about 80% of the time without any fuss. The other 20% I use the FPS and that was a real nightmare until I discovered the "moistness" solution. I'm really not too concerned about security as the phone is with me virtually all the time.
