Fingerprintsensorgate

This. About the only thing I use the FPS for on occasions is when I'm using my bank account app to login. Aside from that its either iris scanner or face recognition to unlock the phone. So its placement does not bother me at all.

Exactly. And even then, I just still use my regular login info. It's good for me to know that stuff by heart as a Navy Fed member.

Am I the only person not really that concerned where the fingerprint sensor is?
The way the media and some people are up in arms over it, you'd think they are asking us to stick our index finger in our rectum to gain access to our phone.
Jeez.

Yes. I absolutely hate the placement of the FPS. I was forgiving about it on the S8 because Samsung was forced to put it there, but there was no need to do that on the Note 8. I'm already stretching my small Donald Trump fingers to reach the FPS on the S8. I don't want to strain them unlocking the Note 8.

I just didn't even realize this was something the whole world would seem to whine about. LoL

The funny parts about this?:

1) There seems to be a longer of tears from people who aren't even going to get the phone.
2) A lot of people who haven't had phones with FPS on the back before are already mad before they try it out.
3) I truly didn't know the FPS in front meant that much to so many. I legit didn't.

I'm at my work desk getting quite the snicker. LoL

I think the number whining about it is vastly overstated by those who do.
It is just that those happy with something don't need to yell about it, they just get on.
So the negative views get vastly more visibility in relative terms, without necessarily representing the range of opinions.

Absolutely. And if it wasn't this, it would be something else.

The rear location was a deal breaker for me, I have my phone on my desk so to use it I would have to constantly pick the phone up, also I wear glasses so I don't think the iris recognition would be consistent enough for me.

It's not just the issue of having it at the back. If it's the same location as Pixel, you will hear 90% less complaints. It's the awkward placement of the FPS beside the camera which is drawing all the criticism.

That's a "deal breaker"?
I don't let the small things stop me. I front bottom fps hasn't stopped me with having to constantly pick up. But it's up to you.

And yes, I'd still get the Note 8 if it had a front bottom fps.

I don't love the location, and I wish they would have put it in a better spot, but I am 100% confident I'll either adjust to it within a few days, or I will just use Iris scanning like I did on my Note 7. The thing that drives me crazy, is that whenever Samsung introduces a phone, everyone picks one tiny aspect of it and they all act like it's the end of the world. Then it comes out, and everyone forgets about this "deal breaker" problem immediately. It's just getting old. Everyone who likes Samsung defends everything about them, and everyone who doesn't like Samsung has a sort of "little man syndrome" trying to justify why they bought a lesser known device from a lesser known manufacturer.

Nailed it

Not true. I love the Note 8 overall but the FPS is really off putting to me. It's such a big deal because it's the only rear FPS by any OEM that is oddly placed and small size. So All the gripes are legitimate.

The gripes are legitimate. However imo, it's gone into overkill. The FPS isn't going to change, at least not this year's phones...so it's preaching to the choir by this point.

Well how will Samsung know people hate if no one said anything? ;).

Well Samsung is still developing the under the glass FPS. Until then, I think it's going to stay where it is no matter what we say here lol

Well we never know since we don't work for Samsung so.. only way to let them know is by showing that we aren't pleased with it (if we aren't that is) :P.

They're not pleased with it. Otherwise they wouldn't still be working on the under the glass FPS. So let's hope they get it sorted out in time for the Note 9.

Unfortunately Samsung are not the ones hearing the complaints 50 times a day...it's us...lmao

I get the frustration, but I'm not the one that can do anything about it. Why do I have to keep hearing it? 😅

^That was a joke btw. I do realize it's a public forum.

I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung browses the forum for things.

Also you don't have to keep hearing it -- don't click on threads that have the obvious subject in the title if you don't want to talk about it... people are allowed to talk about it on the forums just as much as you can talk about what you like ;).

Are you kidding? It shows up in every thread. There's no avoiding it. That's why I laughed so hard when it showed up again on the Note 8 despite the complaining. lol

And yes, I know the Note design was likely developed before a drastic change could be made. But it was still funny. 😆
