Firefox and the s8+

Apparently Firefox doesn't like the extra tall screen. It is letterboxed.

It will take a while for Android apps to catch up. Some will not catch up, but popular browsers and social apps should. Standard will remain 16:9, but would expect a fill screen option for apps that are easy to update. Games would be more complex due to touch locations for games.

Just go into settings and there's an option to have apps utilize the full screen. For some reason it wasn't on for firefox or groove by default but I was manually able to turn it on. They work perfectly.

I discovered this after I originally posted. Seems to work great on Firefox and this forum's app.
