Anyone here that can do the Google play edition conversion for me ? I dont know how and I refuse to take any chances on bricking my phone. I'm in new york so I would need to ship the phone to you. Thanks.
I can tell you that the majority of people here also knew nothing about it flashing and such but as mentioned above it's a truly beneficial learning process that will help you with this and with future devices probably.

I literally did my first s-off (security unlock), boot loader unlock, install of a custom recovery ROM, and rooted on an M8 ON Verizon to M8 GPE. If you have the time and are willing to you can do it. Sooooo buttery smooth now and-I-kid-you-not that the battery life is ridiculous. Took it off the charger at 8am and it died out completely no more than 15 minutes ago. I was looking through the interwebs on how to change the notification light when I came across this post.
I'm willing go share my experience with you whenever, but I will let you know the process for one of the steps set me back $25. The Verizon variant is a different beast altogether from its GSM sister, hence I had to utilize something called "SunShine" to unlock the boot loader and get s-off, some you-have to do in order to flash a GPE ROM. There may be another way in order not to part with ways with money, but I reckon it was well worth it for me to have pure vanilla android.
If curious, let me know. Again, worth it.
