Firmware update 11-14-2011 screwed up my Tab

I started to update it via Kies, but I stopped it. It's VERY slow, and considering the issues people are having, I think I'll just wait.

I was able to get WiFi and rotate back by downloading the new ROM (from XDA) and flashing it with Odin. I suspect that if your tab was broken when you applied the update via WiFi rather than KIES you can do the same.

Can you post a link to the ROM on xda? I have been looking for a simple stock rom to flash with odin. Its every device should have its own wiki with all these links. Makes everything so EASY! love ODIN.

That looks really bad...see the way I see it by you being so nonchalant about it you properly were if not I would find a new GF...or she should buy you a new phone for the Holidays.\

The first thing I did when I hear this was disconnect auto update. Glad it did not push the update because I was draining the battery last night.

Several threads on several site talking about this..

I ran the update back in via Odin... fixed and works as it should.

I called Samsung and they offered to have the device sent to their repair facility to flash it back to 3.1 which I did, after that I am turning off automatic updates! They essentially "bricked" my tablet in my opinion. I did the static ip thing for my home network but couldn't use it anywhere else.

Same here they should get it tomorrow, tracking now.

Wish they could release software like they did for smartphones. Put phone in download mode then flash. Odin in a box type thing. Had one for epic and nexus why not tab??

Support guy stated they are using special development software they can not release to public. Does this have something to do with android 3 being close source?

Sent mine overnight mail, should be shipping out tomorrow, hopefully have it back on Monday. Wanted to have it with me while travelling for the T-giving holiday, UPS 3 days just doesn't work for me.

It is not bricked by any means. Nice to see that Samsung has such a generous customer support. Personally I think that is not necessary.

If all I can do with it outside of my house is use it as a coaster for my drink, it's a brick! I am happy that Samsung has been responsive and helpful and they also flashed back to 3.1, they have never been anything but nice to me when it comes to their products, I have no complaints.

I have not heard anything about a new OTA, the only offer was to flash it back. 1 day turnaround.

This is getting annoying, the long waiting time combined with absolutely no information at all. The customer support is completely oblivious to the problem, I wrote with 4 seperate people from support and neithere seemed to even have heard about this . As a knee jerk reaction they all suggested to do a factory reset and when that did not help they defaulted to "send it in". I could probably wait another week but I would appreciate some information on the progress from samsung, maybe leak it out semi-officially. Because if I have to wait a month or so I would go and flash a custom ROM but I'd rather stay vanilla and not lose my data and settings. :-(

Since this whole "update" started, I've been watching and waiting for Samsung to push out the corrected version. Well this morning, I saw and downloaded it. The update is running now...VERY SLOWLY - currently at 51%. I plugged it into the charger and am going to just let it run. I'll let you know what happens!

UPDATE: Well, it took a long time but the update finally completed and the Tab rebooted (again, it took several minutes). But, it reported that the update was complete and finally gave me a message about running non tablet apps, etc. It's now showing running Version 3.2 and Build Number: HTJ85B.UEKMM P7510UEKMM.

Everything looks to be working properly (including WiFi). I'll report back if I see any problems.
