First impressions?

Got the pixel 6 earlier today and for $599 this has got to be the best bang for buck this year. Great phone for sure but I probably won't be keeping it as I definitely prefer my S21 Ultra and my iPhone 13 pro max. I was going to either sell the Samsung /keep the pixel or return the pixel/keep the Samsung anyways. But first impressions are overall good. This is the standard pixel 6 by the way but I like the size, Android 12 is refreshing, fast and smooth, I like the coral color too and the phone is not heavy but doesn't feel too light either, it's a nice size and weight. But damn, the fingerprint sensor is not that good, the speakers are not that loud especially compared to the phenomenal speakers on the S21 Ultra and iphone 13 pro max ( and I get it, those phones are twice more expensive). Also the phone got pretty damn hot while I was installing my apps. I understand that many phones do during your initial setup but this one felt hotter. Again for $599 this is a great buy and I would definitely recommend ppl to get it if they needed a new phone, I personally just prefer to stick with my S21 Ultra.

Got my Pixel 6 yesterday and I'm very pleased with it. Bit bigger again than the 5 but had bigger phones before and got used to them. Colour is lovely (grey). Back is a bit slippery and I couldn't rest it on my leg when using as it would slip off. Beautiful display and fast. Fingerprint works well for me. All phones need a few days to settle down. Phone signal and internet access very good.

First impression using the 6. Love the animation but hated the fonts lol. I usually don't tweak that on phones, but it seemed kind of small and out of place. Fingerprint scanner doesn't seem as bad as people make it out to be. Sure it's not ultrasonic which is better but it works at an ok speed if screen is on of course. Really dislike the button placement. I'm so use to the power button being under the volume controls so it will take me a while to adjust. Call screening feature works good just wish it wasn't so robotic. Much prefer the 3rd party call assiant app I've been using for years which let's you pick your own hold music as well as change your availability status. So far no complaints with the device itself although I've only used it for a limited time so far.

Yes forgot to mention the speakers leave a little to be desired although I wonder if there's a difference between the 6 and the 6 pro.

I was impressed with the installation process going from my 4XL to the 6 Pro. Just connected the cable and Viola! I usually set up from Scratch but I am glad I didn't this time.

I started using Gestures from 3 Button Nav this time too. Glad I did and I should have done it Sooner. Cool animations too.

Most apps required little or no effort to sign in with no big problems.

I have had few problems with the Fingerprint authentication. It's a little slow but I like it better than face unlock on the 4XL.

Installed my Straight Talk SIM about an hour ago and calls and texts are working fine.

Paired my OG Pixel Buds and my cheap Skullcandy headphones and both are working fine.

Casting to Nest Hubs is working like it should.

Android 12 is great. I did apply an update after transfer of my data that I assume was supposed to Fix some problems.

Battery life: too soon to tell but I know that it's better than my 4XL which was fine for me too.
Wireless charging is slow on the OG Pixel Stand but it works. I connected an old cable from a 4a and it charged up to 100. It was on 70 out of the box.

Overall I am glad I bought it.

I've watched many reviews and read the reviews from members here. One comment I don't get is about the power button placement. My Pixel 4a power button is located above the volume buttons. So is it just an unfamiliar placement to those who criticize it or is it because the phones are taller?
I use my volume buttons a lot more that the power button so I like having the volume buttons lower than higher.
Just curious.

Yes even after I exited safe mode. Transfered from Pixel 5a.

Turn lift to wake on, restart, and then turn it off.

If that doesn't work I'll dig through settings for you and see if anything else could be causing it to stick.

Man, I love this phone. It's great to be back with Google.. It's just so smooth and the interface interactions are awesome. Yes of course. We always have a couple of little hiccups but nothing crazy. I hope more people enjoy it

If you have it on, lifting your phone takes you to the lock screen.

If you have it "off" lifting it goes to the AOD screen.

Is this what you're seeing?

So, I had an investigate and it seems you can't actually turn it off.

If you have it on, lifting your phone takes you to the lock screen.

If you have it "off" lifting it goes to the AOD screen.

I forgot to thank you for your help. I appreciate it. AOD issue is something I will have to live with. Am still enjoying this new Pixel experience.

My P6's FPS seems to be getting better the more I use it. Now it takes just a light tap to unlock.

Been messing around with my 6 pro today (first day with it) The camera is very impressive! The detail coming from the main sensor is lovely, and the zoom, even at 10x it's sharp. One feature that I've found fantastic is the face un blur. We have a 2 year old, with my Samsungs (s21U and fold 3) most of the photos of her came out blurred. With the 6 pro, the un blur works brilliantly, being able to take photos of her and knowing it will get the shot is great!

I'm still getting used to android 12, and the user interface, coming from Samsung, but it does feel very smooth.

I'm not a fan of chrome, and adverts..so still using Samsung browser,

So far the thing that I'm really not happy about is the FPS, I've registered my thumb 3 times, and most of the time I have to input using my pin, certainly one of the worst ove ever used. (Maybe I'm do it my something wrong though)

Wow that's disappointing. And I've heard the FPS is poor from a couple of YouTubers that I trust as well. I was considering picking up the 6 pro during Black Fri deal time but if this is the case, then I think I'll just stick with my 4xl for another year. I still really like the 4xl and the face unlock is super fast and reliable for me.

I moved my thumb all around every angle when setting it up. I don't have any issue with my FPS at all. Reads every time.
