Flashing LG signed Firmware

You have the files on the C drive of your pc right? Not the root of your sd card on the phone. Also you have internet on the pc you are using for this process correct? You must have internet to do it.

I just reread neph's instructions and it should work fine if you follow them. after you enter the info in the KP500 tool the rest is automated. Just keep trying to run it but each time and make sure you have all the info entered properly. read over the instructions everytime you try the process. I'm sure you are doing that already but I'm just making sure.

I believe it is the apk update screen that it is stuck on. I've yet again tried to factory restore and flash the kp500. Still no luck.

Ok, I know your problem, but I don't have a good fix for you. Here is what is going on. There is a flag on the /misc partition that forces the phone to boot into the recovery partition. One of two options from that flag happens. Either you go into factory reset or it tries to apply an FOTA update (which by the screen you are describing, tells me that it's doing an FOTA update).

Now, here's the bad part, unless you have CWM Recovery installed or can get into the OS, I do not know how to help you remove this flag.

My best suggestion at this point is to try a factory reset. Power the phone off, then hold the power and vol up button together until you get to a screen that asks if you want to reset your phone. Press the power button again twice. This will fully reset your phone and if you are lucky change the flag on the /misc partition. Once the reset is finished, the flag should clear itself and you should be able to boot in to the OS.

Let me know if this works for you.

no, doesn't work. And I thought by doing the KP500 forced update took off CWM.
I have tried to Factory Reset. I have tried recovery mode through the LG Updater software.
Still at this logo.
Before successfully doing the KP500, the phone would boot to a blank screen. Don't know if that helps.

lol. Yes. I used the one click. Then booted to CWM recovery to flash a cm9 nightly update. after wiping the dev\cache and such, I proceeded to install the Gapps and cm9 zip files. The cm9 update seemed to short to be a rom. cuz it wasn't(there would the Do'h be). Then, I did something and touched the wrong thing and looked back at the screen and it said "Formatting system Data" which I thought, hmm, that might screw this up. I didn't mean to select it. I didn't realize this was a touch based Recovery. Woe is me. But, Verizon already said they would replace it.

well hopefully you learned your lesson. lol

rooting and putting CWM and installing a custom rom on this phone is super easy. Even returning to stock is easy. Just stay away from rom manager.

Once you have your new phone...

go here for rooting and installing CWM [One Click][Updated]LG Spectrum All in One Pkg for Root, CWM Touch Recovery, and Unroot - Android Forums

and here for returning to stock if you have CWM installed How to return to pure V4 Verizon stock with only CWM recovery - Android Forums

And the only rom out for us right now is mtmichaelson's broken out rom which is here [Rom][4-25-12]Broken Out Spectrum 1.3 w/ Blitzkrieg Kernel - Android Forums

Nitro who makes the eclipse rom is currently working on a build for our phone but who knows when it will be done. He started one for 2.3.5 ginger but gave up on it and is now building one for 2.3.6 I'm sure mtmichaelson will have a rom built for 2.3.6 soon as well.

Where are you getting a CM9 rom? If you're trying to flash CM9 for the nitro, I can tell you that it will not work as your system will bug out from having wrong drivers/kernel even thou our phones are similar.

it was for the P930 on cyanogenmod site. Lol, Thank you for your assistance. Verizon is replacing the phone as soon as stock arrives. And i will follow a little closer instructions next time.

Hey, sry im a noob but I would like to know that if you use the cwm flashable to return to stock does this method work if your on the Broken out custom rom.... or will it only work if its just rooted stock. thx
btw i rooted using the dan method, dont have cwm installed yet:-!

Also what are the chances that the .cab flash will work.. cause im reading that alot of people are having problems with it

It does not matter what version of android you once had on your phone. These .cab files are used by repair technicians to fix your phone from any state as long as you can still boot into download mode. I just put the information here in a way so that your average person at home can attempt a last ditch effort to restore their phone and their by saving a lot of hassle for Verizon/LG fixing it. If you were on something other then stock thou, you will want to do a data wipe, hopefully before the system tries to reboot itself as the cache files will be seriously off.

well what I meant by returning to stock was that I want to flash broken out but I want to return to pure stock when the ZV5 update comes to the spectrum. idk if i have to use the .cab files or just use the cwm to return to stock.

p.s I also would like to know if the zv5 update is rootable using the same method for the zv4 such as the one click root method instead of dans

Also I dont know what u mean by before the system tries to reboot iteself... im thinking its going to be like the droidx which i had previously that i rooted and installed vortex..then when i was unhappy with it i would just sbf it back to stock just to root it again and install another rom.
also though after i sbf'd i would have to factory reset it to get it out of bootloop. I was thinking this would be the same..... sry i didnt actually do any of this yet for the spectrum but want to be sure theses always a escape route. plus i checked alot of other fourms so... ya

once you have CWM installed download the return to stock files neph posted here How to return to pure V4 Verizon stock with only CWM recovery - Android Forums I have personally used this method and it works flawlessly. I was able to return my phone to stock while riding down the road with no pc or wires. I have also used nephs other method for returning ot stock which is a lot more work and a little more confusing for the average user but it works as well. It doesn't matter what rom you use though as long as you have CWM installed you can return to stock and get whatever updates you need.
