I turned off all developer options and that seems to be working (so far). It was becoming more frequent throughout the day.

Yes I unchecked all the developer options and then re-started the cell Pantech burst p9070 & got rid off the red flashes.

Note: If the "strict mode" and "show screen update" it is uncheck, check them and then uncheck them.. ,and after that restart your phone.
For me worked , on an s2 model. ICS.

I have Nexus 5 and android 5.0 and whan I check something in developer settings then turn developer settings off and on it will uncheck everything and everything is unchecked but it stilll does this maybe I turned it on in 4.4.4 but now there isnt tha button :/

Turning off developer options worked for me. What and who are they for anyway? The phone even warns you that turning them on could interfere with your apps. Nuff said!
