For real this time too: EC10 kernels

true that it's not readily apparent, but if a Terminal Emulator is available, su it then type cat /proc/version to see the build date. This one is March 10, 2011.

Not seeing any noticable speed/performance changes here, but ... it seems to work great regardless. I could never get my wifi to work right under any EB16 variant, fired right up and connected with EC10. Color me happy, will check battery life tomorrow (still charging after a long weekend trip with many partial charges here)

I typed su then the command above. It said /proc: permission denied. Any ideas?

I just tried flashing the EC10 voodoo kernel over EB16 voodoo and my SF started doing the Force Close vibration and wouldn't go past the boot animation. I cleared both caches before flashing. Luckily I could boot into CWM after pulling the battery and reflash EB16 and got it to boot. Going to try downloading and flashing again.

Just downloaded and installed. Since coming from my Storm 2 I was missing tweaking and messing with all the hybrids.

You guys have made it fun again! Great job and thanks...............

Charge my phone last night all the way to 95% during 8hrs span i have 78% left to go not bad at all...

How is bat life with this one?
Anyone using this kernel with EB01 Steel Blue V1.5? Any issues?

Thanx!

LOL.... nice.

One more thing... is a nandroid back-up and dalvic wipe recommended before flashing a kernel? (or is that really just for ROMs and Themes)

It's always good to have a nandroid backup... do them as often as you see fit. I only make one when I am really in love with my current set up and would want to go back to it in case of emergency (has happened a few times). Doing a backup every time and not changing much in between isn't necessary unless you want a backup of every incremental change.

Are all the positive reviews from Voodoo or non-voodoo? Also, can I flash the non-voodoo kernel over the deodexed/debloated version?

I've been wondering this too. What's everybody on?

Never flash a non-voodoo kernel over a voodoo kernel... things will get wonky. You need to follow the proper steps to get back to a non-voodoo set up. Check out gunnermike's how to voodoo thread for details and info.

I've had a similar issue before. It happened when I wiped cache and dalvik cache but I didn't really need to. I'm curious if that could have something to do with it. I now only wipe both caches if it is necessary or per Adryn's instructions.

I have to say, it is pretty fast. For battery life, with light usage, I am only down 7% in 3.5 hours. It is pretty sweet

Man I stayed up all night working and was just gonna hit the hay but I thought to myself, "eh what can it hurt to just pop in and see what is going on"

I know better, really I have learned at least that much...

Flashing now and expecting another 2 hours of playing around...

try this:

open terminal emulator
at $ prompt type "su" then <ENTER> key

device should then be granted superuser permissions and you will get # prompt. if you don't have # prompt, then su permissions have not been granted.

at # prompt type (exactly) "cat /proc/version" [make sure you type a <SPACE> in between "cat" and /proc/version"]

hit <ENTER> key

you should get "Linux version ..... blah blah blah"

with adb, terminal emulator, et al, you have to be precise with your commands/syntax or stuff won't work.

Ah.... worked like a charm... i did not have the <space> after the cat...

thanks for the help!

Just flashed it and it seems to be making things alot faster. Although I did just switch over to voodoo from non in the same process so I can't be too sure. Thanks for the download!

Coming from: SC 2.9.1 EB 16 non voodoo

Voodoo and non-voodoo should not affect performance or stability beyond the normal voodoo bump. Flash the voodoo if you're running voodoo, non-voodoo if you're not.

I just didn't know if the voodoo provided noticeable differences for people. Guess only one way to find out...
